ques-stop meds to see rheumy?? | Arthritis Information

After reading some of your other posts I realized I was not crazy to have this question for some of you experts!!

I will be going to rheumy for first time end of Sept (hopefully sooner, but that is my appt)  My GP prescribed some diclofenac to help with the pain till I get in (although it hasn't really helped that much yet) and I was wondering will this medication actually diminish my symptoms??  I mean my fear is that the day I go in I will be pain free and have no swelling and he will say that nothing is wrong, you know what I mean.  Although I have not been pain and swelling free for several weeks now, but I don't want to take anything that will make it harder to dx.  Then again, I feel like I have to take something to get me through.  Does that make sense?  Help??

It absolutely makes sense but I don't know if it is a good idea.  I think about that myself. I am too afraid to get off my meds, NSAIDS, DMARDS as I am not willing to risk having a major flare.  In fact, I am afraid I am on the edge of one right now so GULP I am going to take my mtx tonight.

If your meds. are just for pain, it probably would not hurt you to stop for your rd appt.   When I got my dx I was in major pain as my rd would not give me prednisone as he said it would effect tests.  I also did not have pain meds. Sure enough, no drugs, my numbers were high.

I hope your appt. gives you the right diagnosis to get the right treatment.  Good luck.

Boy, I second those thoughts.  It seems that when I feel my worst, I don't have a doc appointment and when I have my appointment, I don't feel bad at all.  We really should take our meds but I sure know how you feel!
