Marathon Training | Arthritis Information

Yesterday was my first double digit day - I walked 10 miles.  I have to say the last 1.5 miles were exhausting and if I had seen one more little hill, I was sure I would collapse, but I made it.  It helps to watch for the wild turkey, rabbits and deer.  I love the feeling of being with nature and it makes me feel very close to God.

The pred is helping me.  I managed to still make dinner last night and I only had a two hour nap.  I then was able to stay up until about 9:30 and was out for the night.  Feeling okay today.

September 11, I walk my first marathon - the Buffalo Stampede which is 10 miles.  The only thing I have ever done in the past is the March of Dimes which is 6.2 miles and that was quite an accomplishment for me.

As it goes, I take each week at a time.  I take my meds and with the support of my doc and husband who both encourage me to exercise, I am somehow fitting it in.  The house isn't as kept up as usual but I'm trying.

I spend a little time in my herb garden and lots of time dreaming of my dream retirement in a small town where it isn't as hot as Sacramento but not too cold to snow, where there is lots of outdoor activities and a place I can have a green house to continue growing my herbs, and lots of farmer's markets.  As my mother says, it's our dreams that give us something to look forward too and I agree.

Take care everyone and as my doctor will tell you, if you can exercise, do just a little.  It builds the muscles around our joints which helps our RA and it helps keep our weight down which we need to do.

Hugs and prayers to all of you and happy dreams!

Cris,  Do you have to do anything to sign up for marathon?  Maybe I will come down and walk with you.  We can lean on each other

We are proud of you.  KEEP DREAMING

Hope you continue to do great!

June

I look forward to your posts, it encourages me that I will get back to the gym.I hope to start back tom. despite how I feel.

You are an inspiration!

Thank you.  I have to inspire myself too.  I have to admit that feeling like my stomach is getting a little flatter sure helps.  So far no moon face either from the pred, but we shall see.  I did have a donut this morning - shame on me!
