Don't overdo it.

I have been feeling better daily and was in great enough shape to finally do some exercise.

I overdid it.

Now i hurt horribly from actual muscle pain.  You forget sometimes when drugs are doing good that you haven't moved in a long time.

So, be careful and take exercise slowly.

Hello Bubba , Some thing I learned a long time ago is if you drink lot & lots of water before ,  during and after the muscle pain will be so little or none at all. I have tried it and it really does work . I started some light jogging a couple of years ago and did the almost too much water thing and it really does work. But of course we all know you really can't drink too much water . Good luck with the work outs !!

It is so hard not to over do. I have been thinking of doing my walking exercise video, but it is for walking for a mile. Which I cannot walk a mile all at once, never could even when I was a teenager. But I know if I tried it I would over do.

My meds are just not where they are suppose to be yet. Remicade is starting to wear off again. I know because I am swelling, hurting and stiffing up toward midnight again. And I actually swelled in both knees the other day.

Yep, yep, yep... DO NOT OVER DO!!

I guess you don't ascribe to the ol' "no pain no gain" philosophy?

I was told in arthritis school "no pain, no gain" is definately NOT the way to go when you have RA.

Even if it's sore muscles from a solid work out?  I mean like anyone would get when they work hard?

Bubba~not saying that that's all you're experiencing.  I hope you feel better soon, and you're tip is a good one for all of us to follow.

Every heard of water intoxication? It is not only possible to drink too much water it can be dangerous.. Can You Drink Too Much Water? By Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D.

Quoting from the article, "Water intoxication and hyponatremia result when a dehydrated person drinks too much water without the accompanying electrolytes."Happ, I found that out from an episode of ER years ago.  I guess even with good ol' H2O their's such thing a too much of a good thing, huh?Hi Bubba, I'm really glad that you're feeling better and can exercise.  RA affects our joints, but due to inflammation it also affects the tendons and ligaments.  They become weaker and in some cases are lax and not as elastic.  If you overexercise you're putting a greater strain on them.  I've been working with a PT who's also an exercise trainer and he's taught me to take it easy and to stretch gently before gently exercising. I can exercise longer if I do it gently and slower.  Hope this helps you out, I know it did me and I've been benefiting from the exercise.  Go for it but do it gently.  Lindy Lindy, thanks for the post because that's exactly what I was going to try to say if I could figure out how. You're supposed to gently exercise and be patient, not push yourself to the point of pain. Thanks Lindy.  That's good for me to know, well good for all of us I suppose.  I'll have a hard time adjusting to that because I always want to push myself harder.  It really is difficult for me mentally to "take it easy".Take it easy is for wimps, until I did the treadmill for 20 minutes, golfed 9 holes, walked a mile, and did upper body strength training for 15 minutes - all in the same day.  I could barely move, even my achilles were stretched beyond belief.  That's when I decided I needed someone to help me learn to exercise properly for my physical conditions and for my age.  One of the better decisions I've made.  LindyYa know though, it isn't like I think I'm wimpy.  It's just that when I get going their's always something in me that's saying "well, you did this, let's see if you can do that".  It's like I'm compelled to always do more than what I was planning to do.  I won't even tell you what kind of cardio I do.  You'd think i was crazy.

Back when i weighed 145lbs (about 15yrs ago) i joined an athletic club and they tried me out on machines saying I weighed nice etc.  I told them i was in horrible shape and didn't exercise at all so take it easy on me.  They laughed, put me on a tredmill, then the exercise bike.  I got off the bike and passed out.  I got my money back.

Everyone has a different body.  Some can keep going, some can't.  Some haven't exercised in years, some do regular daily ones.

If we were all the same, we would be healthy and fit (i would hope). :)

I haven't exercised in literally 3 years.  Most of the time spent in bed up until this past year where i did a little walking here and there.

So, last night i felt great so i exercised and now i pay for it.  I can't moved my head to the left and i can't lay on my left side because the muscle in my back on the right side is so strained that i get stuck.

I will be better in a few days, but next time I will take it slow.  I wish i could afford an athletic club membership for water arobics.
