Well...here I go again!! After a 5 month trial of methotrexate (without considerable improvement in symptoms), my rheum has decided to dc it and change to Arava. The methotrexate caused painful mouth sores, and diarrhea. I'm a bit concerned about the Arava too, since I see that one of the side effects is diarrhea, and you guessed it, mouth ulcers.
Does anybody that has experience with Arava have any tips to share? This disease is a frustrating one!! My problems are mainly in my hands and feet though, so I'm lucky. Anybody have any suggestions for relieving the foot pain?

I have taken arava for years with no problems at all.Its about the only medication that hasnt given me any side effects. My problems are mainly my feet and hands also. I have tried heat,cold,ankle splints etc. All helped a little bit, but it has been the enbrel that has finally relieved the pain. All the best with arava, it helped me heaps when I first started on it, but eventually the enbrel had to be added. Ally
