I am SO angry and bitter today about my RA i thought id have a moan because I am so fed up of hearing myself moaning vocally i thought id do it by typing - though this is bloody hurting my hands!
Since Thursay - now Monday - i think!- every single part of my body from head to toe has flared up in severe pain not just a little ache. I think this is my mega flare after giving birth 6 weeks ago. Had read about it with a few other members and I think this is it. It is attacking every single joint I never thought possible. Hand has flared before lots of times but not like this, the pain is down to my elbow - looks like ive jammed hand in a door for swelling. Cried all last night in the dark in my bathroom as may of you have prob done too because to look at my hand looking like an old woman and in a claw shape was turning me sick - in fact i did throw up. It looks liek a hand of a 99 year old and all screwed up - baby finger doesnt even look like a finger ! It upsets me so much as im 32 and Im afraid of what my future will be at moment.
Tomorrow is the first injection into leg of a steroid which i havent had before as take pred via mouth. I have always been on highest of 10mg and this has worked but last two days taken 20mg and nothing working. Starting on Salazopyrin tomorrow a DMARD and bee on Diclofenac a NSAID for two weeks now. Do you know if the injection will kick in at a hell of a lot stronger dose then the tablet form ? Dr told me it would last for about 6 weeks then would need another. Also if injection not doing anything could i take pred on top of it i wonder? I shall ask him tomorrow but was curious if any of you have been through this??

May make you laugh but i think im having a flare up in my face!!!! My eyes are swollen and cheekbones painful to touch! Not going anywhere looking like this today!

Chelybel, That sounds like hell. Now there is nothing more unfair then a new mother having to go through that. I wish we could beat up your ra for you. At least your rd is giving you injection. YES you can take pred. on top of it. My rd gave me injection, it was not enough so put me on oral pred too. I know what you mean about your hand. That happened to me once. I JUST CRIED. No one can describe how depressing that is. Just know. My hand went back to normal and yours will too. This will pass. I know, hard to believe now. Much love and compassion. I hope you are getting lots of support from hubby. This is such a special time for you. I will say a prayer that you get to focus on your baby and not this damn ra.
I have had steriod injections and they seem to work pretty fast. Because the meds are going right into the affected area. Hope this helps. Will keep you and all of us in prayer!
