I hope someone can give me some insight.I read little bits and pieces about probiotics. My 12 year old has alot of tummy trouble..and I thought maybe this  would be worth a shot. When I searched the net  there is just too many choices. Also is it just acidopholis?..i do take that every day for yeast. Thanks in advance....ChrisAcidopholis is one, but I know there are a lot.  Why don't you try giving him yogurt?  That works fine for my daughter, although we will be adding a powdered supplement because she is going back up on her Zithromax dose. He is lactose intolerant so he does get quite a stomach ache from milk products. I do give him a lactaid but that only helps so much. Chris, check out http://www.pecanbread.com for information about a healing diet for digestive troubles. If your son is having digestive trouble now he will be at higher risk for autoimmune disease in the future if it is not treated.

There is a way to make a probiotic rich goat yogurt on the web site. It is very good for healing digestive problems because the yogurt protects the probiotic, letting it get further into your digestion than the capsule kind. The lactose and casein are broken down completely during the 24 hour fermentation and most people who cannot tolerate regular cow dairy can tolerate goat dairy because the proteins are much smaller. You can mix it with honey for better taste.

Regular yogurt from the store is LOADED with lactose and is not recommended at all.

Many multi strain probiotics contain strains that can be damaging for certain people in the beginning. L. acidophilus alone however is a good way to start. Lots of people on the list serve where I hang out are dealing with yeast issues. There are good supplements that can fight it well along with dietary changes.

Susan :)

I have a dairy intolerance but it is far beyond lactaid med help.  I have to stop my dairy intake all together which includes anything baked with dairy or butter etc.

I take probiotics and it helps so that i can eat cheddar cheese here and there, it is the only dairy that i can eat on probiotics.

Here is a link to the one i buy.  It has all the needed types in it and is one of the most packed types on the marked.

I can't eat yogurt due to dairy either, so the probiotic versions in the store aren't for me.
