Someone had recently posted something about not being able to take this medicine and i can not remeber what the reason was. I thought maybe it pertained to me. And i can not find the post. Wish i could remember as i plan to start taking this. But i am wanting to research it a bit first. I really need it. It would drastically change my life. Anyone who has taken this does it make you mentally any different? I mean do you function well on this. I mean to much pred makes me nutty. So any feed back would be appreciated.

milly,

I take provigil 3-4 times a week.  For me, it is a very strong stimulant and I take the lowest dosage pill available, 100mg, and cut it in half.  Taking one half at about 10 in the morning will keep me going for the rest of the day.  If I don't take provigil, I have a tendancy to drink pepsi and coffee all day to keep myself going, and this leads to a bad diet and weight gain.  The other positive for me is that the more energy I have, the more tolerant I am of pain, and that means less pain meds.  The only difficulty I have is that when the provigil wears off, its bedtime.  Plus, I can't take provigil too late in the afternoon or I'll be up too late at night. Best wishes.

Hi Milly,
I wouldn't have been able to keep a job without Provigil.  I was using adderal first (a drug for ADHD) but that made me feel jittery.  I feel almost "normal" on Provigil.  No jitters, no heart racing at all.  I thought I could go off of it since enbrel is working so well I could stop it but I still need it.  Good luck!
Provigil is great.  Love the stuff.  Sometimes it does make people nauesous and they opt not to take it.  I think I will ask my rheumatologist about Provigil when I see her next month.  Even though my pain is greatly diminished w/plaquenil, I still have unbearable fatigue and brain fog most days.  I drink one or two small cups of coffee in the morning, and then I have a Coke in the afternoon (probably about 200mg caffeine per day), but the caffeine doesn't do much.  If I ingest more, it bothers my stomach and I also tend to get jittery.
