I have been on MTX and Sulfasalazine for many months.  I started out with a MTX dose of 15mg, then 20mg, and now at 22.5mg per week.  Each time I increased the MTX dosage my pain symptoms got worse.  My RA says that it isn't a "cause & effect"thing, but I wonder if I am having more pain as a result of the MTX.Hello BD, welcome to the board. I dont take mtx but there are lots of people on the board who do once they are all on I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Hey BD, that very thing happened to me too.  I told my RD that I thought the MTX was making me worse.  He smiled and said he didn't think that was the case.

Reading your post makes me wonder if I was right!

Hi Beach Dreamer... My RD upped my MTX to 25mg a week after about 2 months of 15mg.  I have no idea why because I was not feeling bad.  The increase made me feel WORSE.  I felt like I had the flu... so she dropped me back down to 15mg a week.  That has been about a year ago and I feel alot better on the 15mg.  I don't know why your dr. increased your meds, but if you felt better at a lower dose I would ask to get it decreased.
