Does anyone know what ecological or environmental medicine is?

My insurance company is refusing to pay for my MRI (spine).

Here is their explanation:

Your plan does not cover services or expenses for ecological or
environmental medicine.

Has anyone ever heard of this? The only context I've ever heard that in is environmental factors or contaminants making you sick.  I don't see how that would apply to your MRI.  I'd call...it sounds like they made a simple mistake.yea im thinking the same thing as Innerglow....Unless they are meaning Nuclear Medicine?  I know that when Ive gotten MRI's done w/ contrast Ive seen something having to do w/ Nuclear Medicine on the billEnvironmental and Ecological Medicine usually refers to allergy or sensitivities.  Things like allergy shots or something might be what would be included in that.  Things like treatment for Chemical sensitivities etc.   I think maybe they have made a mistake and I would query it with them.  These things have nothing to do with MRI's.Environmental medicine can be defined as the medical specialty devoted to prevention and management of occupational and environmental injury, illness and disability. On the job-injuries and/or exacerbation of symptoms from employment requirements (such as lifting) are often bridged to environment medicine and/or occupational medicine.

FWIW

sounds like a coding errorI agree with others it looks lie a posible billing error. Best thing to do is call them.I would call, tell your ordering doctor, immediately file the appeal, file a complaint with the insurance commissioner of your state, copy your all your elected representatives, and contact the press.  Lorster, did you get this problem resolved? Just a tad over-the-top, no?

BUT....if you gotta pay out of pocket for that; maybe not. Their CRAZY expensive.

Maybe crazy to do all at once.  For al you know it could have been just an imputing error.  Go up the chain of command
Maybe crazy to do all at once.  For al you know it could have been just an imputing error.  Go up the chain of command
Yep... don't "shoot first and ask questions later"

Have you ever had one before? If so what did they cover last time?

Surely it's a mistake.
