Anyone remember me? | Arthritis Information

I was here in August/September. I had been having joint pain for quite a while. I saw a Rhemy in Sept and he told me at my first visit that he was pretty sure I had some sort of inflamitory arthritis. He put me on Pred...then some kind of anti inflam...then tramadol. The pred and anti inflam did nothing...tramadol helped take the edge off. After "getting my results back" he decided that all my labs were "normal" and he actually said to me "you look fine to me"! Needless to say, I was furious, and left to never return. He did tell me that I had Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and weak knees (to explain my knee pain).

Well, I can't ignore the pain any longer. I'm a hairdresser and I need my hands, and the rest of me, to work. My hands are my biggest problem. I'm seeing a new Rhemy in Feb. I called my primary doc to see if he had the test results from the first rhemy...nope. My primary's office has called and left several messages to get my results. Nothing. I had asked for them to tell me my test results (In Sept) and all I was told was I was "normal". Okay, so that's my story, and I wanted to say "hello" again to all of you. I recognized many names, and you were all so helpful before. I'll be lurking around again.

I hope the new doc can help as well. He was recommended to me by my SIL (she has Lupus) and she said he's very thorough.

Believe me, I won't be in the shadows. I post alot of questions!! You'll get sick of me!

Hello, Not sure I met ya yet. But welcome back.

Hope to see ya around and you finally get some answers.

Good luck at the new rheumy and keep us posted on that appt.  Look forward to hearing more from you!

I wanted to avoid going to the first Dr. myself, because a very good client of mine works for him and absolutely loves him. She is never in the room with him, that explains it. She has no idea how he treats people. Anyway, I did not want to put her in the middle, but I'm going to have to. I'll just keep it professional, and hope she understands. If she wants me to continue to do hair (Her's included, lol) I have to get help.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Speaking of warm, I'm off to give my hands a break and sit with heating pad wrapped around them. Feels so good!!

Good Luck with the new rhuemy Deb.

I have had RA for 30 years always with normal labs. The only thing that was ever a bit high was my sed rate.

Hi Deb and welcome back!

Thank God that rheumy is gone!

Hugs,

Pip

Can't honestly say that "I Remember You" but am certainly glad you're back. [QUOTE=marian]

Good Luck with the new rhuemy Deb.

My sed rate was a bit high and my RH factor. Of course I don't know what the levels were exactly. My primary dr did levels first, then the rheumy. I'm going to primary dr on thursday to pick up my labs from July. At least I have some to go by, until I can track down first Rheumy and his labs. Ugh, very frustrating.

Deb J - I distinctly remember you because your "not being believed" scenario is so close to mine.  Good luck, never give up, and remember you are your best doctor - you know when something is wrong with your body.  Take care ~~ CathyHello, Deb, welcome back. Yes, I remember you. I hope you get a better treatment plan with this new rheumy. JSNM is absolutely right, we are our best doctors and we get to know and read our bodies and disease. Never give up if you are not getting the answers you need...persistence and proactivity are two qualities we need to develop in coping and managing our RA and all the doctor drama we need to deal with.

Ask any questions you want. Knowledge is power with RA.

Deb...something for your hands you might like.  Pick up a Paraffin wax bath at Walmart.  It is heated paraffin wax and it will make your hands feel oh so good after a long day of styling hair.  You can get scented wax to go with it too.  A little aromatherapy at the same time is good for relaxing.

Funny you mention the paraffin wax. I have one at my salon. My biz partner and I keep saying we are going to plug in it one day and treat ourselves to a "dip" at the end of a long busy day. Well, today is going to be one of those days, maybe I'll finally turn it on.

Thanks for all of your imput, I appreciate it. I'm not giving up this time. I will get some answers. I'm only 36 and some days I feel much, much older. I'm one of those people that never stop...I'm always buzy! But not in the last year and a half or so. Kinda depressing.

I just want my life back!!

Thank you all, again!!!

Welcome back and keep us in the loop!

PS - Hook me up with a paraffin wax!
