OT: Abi Kitty UPDATE | Arthritis Information

Abi Kitty still has the runs, and she has been quarintined in the kitchen/laundry room, where her litter box is, since we realized she had the runs.

I called a vet today to see what we could give her to help stop her from having the runs. She said to give her 1/2 teaspoon of Pepto Bismal every 4 hours. And if she is still having the runs that we should bring her in as she will need to be put on anti-biotics to clear it up.

I asked them how much a visit was they said and that included a through well check. I asked how much anitbiotics would cost, she said it depended on which on she needed.

I then asked if they offer a payment plan where we could pay them over a few months for the visit + antibiotics and they said yes.

So... she will probably be going to the vet Saturday.

Hubby kept telling me to call the vet to see how much it would cost for them to fix her up. But he also was the one telling me she was not going to the vet because we did not have the money to pay them.

I think he misses Abi Kitty.

It was probably the water she just had to keep drinking out the bottom of the shower that done it, or that little piece of pot roast. But she has ate the pot roast before and it did not effect her. I left my plate of food unattended back in November, to go get a drink... I came back and she was in my chair with her front feet on the table eating my pot roasted potatoes! I mean she ate a lot! But it did not effect her.

She has been drinking the water outta her bowl, FINALLY! I guess because she has no other source of water like she did when she slips into the bathroom with someone goes in or out.

Has she had the full course of a de-worming?

ummm no. But if she is doing better later tonight, and not have to go to the vet, we will buy her worm shot from the feed & seed in town for , it is a combo of de-wormer and some other vaccines I think. I am just not sure how old she is. Seems like she should be 6 months old, but... not sure.

If you buy the worm shot from the feed & seed make sure you de-worm twice.  It should be done about 2 weeks apart.  Vaccinations are also done in a series.  Then boosters yearly.   Yeah, I know the routine, we had to go thru all of that when we adopted Peter from the animal shelter. But after 2 visits, we stopped taking him because everytime we went it was costing more and more. And she said we did not have to come back unless it was time for shots or something wrong with him. But we just could not afford to keep taking him for the shots. So... we did the feed & seed vaccines and all for him and the free rabie clinic in the middle of town every year. Joonie, the water in the bottom of the shower could be it - if there was very much soap in it, it would give her diarrhea.  Maybe you can keep the bathroom door closed so she can't get in there?

Glad to see that kitty is going to the vets. It's better for her and you, to take her to the vets instead of guessing what's wrong. Most vets offer a payment plan now and the last time I took my kitty in it cost me over 00! But I didn't care what the cost was as long as she got better. Hope that kitty will soon be back to being herself and that kitty's mom and dad don't get a very costly vet's bill.

I hope the pepto works for her Joonie. I hope it is just something she ate and will be OK shortly.

My new kitty eats anything and everything. Even beads and styrofoam - so far - nothing has made him really sick. I dropped a pickle last nite and he gobbled it up and then gave me an odd look, like I played a trick on him.

A little rice with chicken or beef broth can help too. Don't give her milk whatever you do.

I've never given a cat pepto but I do rememeber going to the pet store and buying something there for kitty diarrhea.

We had a dog that got sick had bloody stools, poor thing, you could sit next to him and hear his belly working. He had giardia from drinking out of a puddle of water outside.

My kitty is like my baby since my kids are grown and moved away, I know how worried you must be. I hope she feels better very soon.

Well, would like to announce that Abi Kitty is much better now!

Her stools were better after we gave her Pepto Bismol, and then they just kept getting less watery looking.

So, today we gave her a bath and now she is free to roam the house once again.

She sure has been ready to get outta the kitchen/laundry room. She kept trying to escape for 2 days, so we decided since her stools were back to normal again, we would let her out after she got a bath.

Now she is a nice smelling kitty, and running all over the house! She is not allowed in my room just yet to make sure she is better, better and does not relapse. As my bed has a pure white comforter on it and well... cat poo on it would just be nasty, as we cannot wash it in the washer because it is too big, and a visit to the laundrymat would be in order to get it clean and costing to clean and dry the darn thing.

The cat gives me poo problems, and my son gives me pee problems LMAO!
