Synvisc for psoriatic knee | Arthritis Information

Hello, all!

I finally was diagnosed with damage in my knee due to my PsA.  Essentially the ligaments are frayed and torn, and some  cartilage is worn out.

Here's the deal: my doc wants to use Synvisc to help my knee, hopefully putting off surgery.  My immune system is iffy at times, so surgery is a bit daunting.  Has anyone else used Synvisc for a psoriatic knee? Is the doc simply putting off the inevitable?

Any thoughts are welcome.  Thanks

Hi and Welcome, I have PsA/RA/OA and have had 3 sets of Synvisc inj.  I have them every 6-8 months trying to hold off having the knee replaced.  I had the L. knee replaced 6 months ago.  Synvisc has helped me and is delaying surgery.  LindyHi,

I have now had three injections and am kinda regretting them.  So far they have not worked, and I am concerned that I may need surgery, if only to clean up the joints (both knees are bad).  I also think my doc must have told my insurance company that I have OA, as Synvisc is not indicated for PsA.  Could that hamper further treatment? My rheumy has me with PsA/RA, my ortho with OA...I am concerned I may be headed into some trouble.  Any advice is welcome!
