So, Danielle and I had back to back rd appts. on Wed.  Here is the low down from those appts.

I am sick lol.  Well, NO KIDDING!!  LOL!!  My doc admitted to me that he kinda jumped the gun with wanting to put me on Rituxin.  He called the company and asked then if I fail Rituxin can I go back to remicade and try that again and the answer was no.  The Remicade wouldn't really be effective after having rituxin.  So it was decided to really boost my dosage of remicade and go with that.  I am going to be on the highest dosage of remicade for my weight.  Let's pray this works!  My nerves are inflamed and that is why some of my extremities enjoy falling asleep.  Once my swelling and inflammation are under control that should go away.  I am also losing muscle mass in my bad leg.  As soon as this ra is under control he will release me to have my knee replaced.  I have lost weight.  Visibly lost weight!  The rd and his staff commented on it.  I am not allowed to do any exercise program as of yet so this weight loss is gonna be sloooower than I want it to.  But at least it is happening.  I haven't been sleeping very well because of the pain so he also gave me Lunesta.  I pick it up tonight and really hope this works.  Now on to Danni.

She is in the midst of a mild flare.  We changed up her meds and dropped the celebrex that wasn't working for her any more and added Mobic.  If the Mobic does not work then it will be on to mtx.  The teenage girls on mtx really have messed up cycles at times and we want to avoid that if at all possible since she already has messed up cycles on her own.  We also added Provigil half tablet in the morning to tryand combat this fatigue.  That seems to be working very well. She was not fatigued after school...made it thru Walmart with me and Danny...and didn't go to bed til like 1030 like normal teenagers!  She is so very fair skinned so he always looks at her freckles and little moles on her back for any changes.  She also got a lecture on using sunscreen with an SPF of bazillion lol.  I am to check in with him by phone like in March or sooner if she is no better.  She does not need to go back for a follow u[ til June UNLESS she is doing badly.  So pray this Mobic works for my baby and we do not have to put her on mtx.

Arielle is doing OK.  She is flaring today tho.  But I think that has to do with the weather we are having.  The deep freeze we had for those couple of days combined with the 8 inches of snow we have right now and it is still snowing just put her over that edge.  She is doing well on the celebrex and I really feel she would be much worse without it.  Today is the first day since we started the celebrex she has asked for a pain pill.  Feb. 5th she has an ultrasound of her knees.

There are new drugs (RD said new and exciting drugs) coming out later this year so there is still hope for peeps like me that keep failing stuff.

That is about all ra wise from our little family!
Wow. All three of you down with flares... that's just horrible and unfair. I hope you all get to feeling better quickly! like it could work..

 hope you both feel better.

Ya know Kathy…in theory it sounds good lol.  I do understand how he doesn’t want her on the mtx yet, and I really hope this mobic works for her, but the minute we don’t feel she is doing as well as we think she should be…I am going to be on the phone to the rd office.

Sorry to hear you are all in flares at the moment but it sounds like the RD has a good  plan!  Congrats on the weight loss!!!! Liz, sorry about the flares, but congrats on the weight loss.  I know it's tough without exercising...would they clear you for exercise in the water?  I'm still working on the aquatic physical therapy twice a week, and was pretty pleased with my progress in the water until this past Tuesday when the pain (afterwards, not during) had me in real bad shape until today.  But it is better than nothing, and all my docs said it is the only way I will be able to exercise, period.Liz, I'm so sorry about you all having flares. It's got to be so hard for you, when you don't feel well yourself, then have to see your girls going through it too. My heart is with you, Sweetie.

My RD also told me that we are saving Rituxan for when we need the "big guns". I can't take any of the others, as I've said before, but I do not have RA damage. I guess she's saving it for when I do. I sure wish Rituxan would help slow the damage from OA! But, alas,  there is nothing that does that.
Take care. My prayers are with you. Hugs to all, Nini
