I haven't been on here for awhile, I have Fibro-RA-Panic attacks-Depresion, I am on Cymbalta-Plaqunnil-water pill-Xannax-fish oil-olive leaf-lyrica-vitB12.....I am taking care of my Dad 88yrs. old. he has Alaimizers (sp)?......my nerves are just shot, He is getting mean today, I have been trying not to put him in the nursing home, I don't have the heart to, I am the only child 52 yr.  old kid

Some times we have to make the hard decision not only for our own sanity but for the best care of our loved one. Good luck to you rv chick . My heart is with you . Also congrads on your engagement !! How exciting !!
Hi RVchick.  I don't think the issue is adding more meds even natural to your cocktail.  I know it's hard not to put an aging parent with Alzheimers in a nursing home or Alzheimer's assisted living situation.  On the other hand he's not safe outside of the nursing home or assisted living because he's driving in winter conditions, waking up at night, and is getting mean which will lead to him becoming combative. There are stages of Alzheimers and your dad has entered the arguing, mean, combative stage.   You don't want to wait till he starts throwing punches or pushing you around or becoming meaner, by then it's too late.  For his sake and yours you need to seriously think about placing him in a home where he is safe.  He won't be able to drive, wander, and the healthcare providers know how to deal with a mean patient.  Your health is going down hill and because of his age and medical conditions so is his.  Placing him in a home is a positive step, not a negative one.  I understand what you're going through only too well - I had to be the provider and make arrangements for my dad.  Take care. You can PM me if you want to talk.  Lindy

THANKS EVERYONE, I AM IN A BIG OLE FLARE....I WENT TO A CAMPGROUND MEETING LAST NITE, I KNEW DAD WOULD SLEEP WHILE I WAS GONE FOR ABOUT 2 HRS, I CALLED HIM 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS GONE, OOPS, HE WAS ASLEEP, THEN LAST TIME I CALLED HE DIDN'T ANSWER, GO I FLEW HOME, WE ARE ABOUT 2 MIN. FROM THE CAMPGROUND & CLUB. BUT HE WAS FINE, JUST SITTING THERE.....SO I THINK I AM GOING TO GO AHEAD & START ON THE ORENICA FOR MY RA... I KNOW THIS IS THE FIBRO. BOARD, BUT MAYBE IT WILL HELP MY FIBRO ALSO....& I AM GOING TO CALL THE DOC. BACK TO HAVE DAD LOOK AT TO GO TO A NURSING HOME.....HIS BROTHER IS IN ONE, SO MAYBE THEY CAN BE TOGETHER.....THIS BREAKS MY HEART, BUT I AM GOING DOWN HILL QUICK ALSO, I FEEL LIKE A SEMI RAN OVER ME....I WISH I HAD A HOT TUB, WHEN I USED TO GO ON VAC. WE ALWAYS HAD A HOT TUB & I FELT GREAT.....I THINK WE WITH FIBRO. SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE COVERED MY INS. TO GET A HOT TUB.... WELL, GOT TO TAKE DAD FOR HIS RIDE..

Hi, rvchick, and welcome!
Unfortunately I don't have any advice to offer about your father as I have not been in that situation. I'm sorry things are getting rough for you with taking care of him and I hope you're able to get some help soon. Do you have any other family that can assist you? You really sound like you need a break.
Have you tried warm baths or lavender to calm your nerves at night? Make sure you mention everything to your doc at your next visit. I bet there is something they can do for you.
Wow, I haven't dealt with that, but I did just move across country away from my entire family from a BIG city to a tiny city. Try to find something to relax. I read and write. It helps me get away, take time for you. I know you have a lot to take care of, but you can't take care of someone else if your not taking care of yourself. Find time even if it five or ten minutes a day where you can breath and let everything else go. Good luck! I praying for you!
