Hi Everyone,

My team is doing another survey to learn more about Knee Osteoarthritis.  If you have problems with Knee Osteoarthritis, we’d appreciate your help in answering these anonymous questions.  You can find the survey here:  www.ArthritisKneeStudy.com

Thank you!

Valerie

I like polls too.I used to be a regular visitor to arthritisinsight when it was run by KJ (KrissyJo aka Tina Underwood).  This is the first time I have been on here for several years and I can't believe how much junk / spam / snake oil ads there are!  Are the boards not moderated anymore?  What happened to KJ - she would be horrified - she hated purveyors of snake oil and other dodgy (viz money making) scams.

Hi everyone, my name is angela and im a newbie on here, i was diagnosed with R/A about a week ago, my sister has it as well!

angela

angela,

Probably this disease will take control of your life. It's just that kind of disease. All we can do is with our medical professionals, get to know our disease make friends with it. But, you might as well face it. This disease is going to drastically change your life and life of everyone that loves you. Fortunately, now there are drugs that allow us to live a funtional life and better drugs are in the works. Anyway, you might want to go to the main rheumatoid arthritis forum. Since your sister has our disease, much of the disease won't be as shocking as it is to others totally unaware of just how life changing this disease is.

I have been using this forum for the last 2 years, or at least I thought it was this forum. It must be the same forum, because my login works. I see that you have made some changes, I don't see anyone that I used to see on the forum, maybe I am on the wrong forum. I have not been on for a month or so. Mostly I don't under stand what happened to the other people. I don't remember all of their names, but there was these names: Roger, Ginnylee, I just can not remember them. I looked on the member list and did not see them.

Also every time I try to post something I have to sign in.Rolacoy,

Does this look like someone you know? just click on the light blue Rolacoy

Could this be your ginnylee? Just click on the deep blue ginnylee.

What a nice looking picture Mr. Rolacoy. Anyway, click on this link and the arthritisinsight web taxi will give you a ride home. Enjoy the ride.

levlarry2010-04-01 13:36:04I don't know how I got on this forum. Maybe when I first found out that I had PsA, I signed up on this forum. However, I sure thank you for helping me get home. Webmaster or whoever is in charge..My user name is not correct..it is embarassing to use.My register page with user name etc is correct. What came back is not . HELP . I want to be luckycanuk not luckycauk. I nominate Lev. It means he doesn't get to post, right? I don't even care if he banned me. As long as he can't post....

Oh, also - Day one.

Well, if someone AGREED to those terms, that's not violating their Freedom of Speech.  If you can find someone who wants to moderate on those terms, sounds good to me.  Any ideas?

Ernest - thank you so very much for all your hard work this past year since taking over.  I see that the "About Us" section on the main page asks for donations of .00 to help keep the site up and running.  And I know from another BBS experience how hard it is to keep hackers from getting into servers, especially German ones

I again want to say thank you for providing this forum for our use.  Take care ~~ Cathy
I like the new format, too! I did have a bit of trouble logging in but it was just because I couldn't remember my password.

Thank you for this forum. As you can see, it is a lifeline for many of our members. I was lost while it was down. I do agree with the need for a moderator.
Thanks! Nini
Glad the site is up and running.  I missed it.  I like the new look, haven't had a chance to play around in here yet, but I will.

I like the idea of a moderator who doesn't post.  This would keep things honest.  Regardless, happy you're back in business.
Thank you for keeping this forum going...it is a lifeline to many of us with severe RA and we would be lost without it.

I love the new software...it looks fabulous and is easy to use plus it has things that the old one didn't like the Calendar and showing the number of new messages you have on the main page.

I agree with all the others that moderators would improve this forum greatly...we are getting many trolls who are disturbing and stressful to have around.

Thank you again for the forum.
Ernest, it took about a minute to get used to this new format....I like it.  Thanks Thank you.  When there isn't anyone around with PMR  to talk to, this forum is here to ask questions, get advice or read about experiences others had.  I log on daily and was upset that I couldn't get on, but the wait was worth it.  Thanks to everyone who worked hard on the new forum.    I like the look. I hope it all works out...Yay, i'm sooo happy this forum is up and running!! I've just started or want to get started in regular posting and i was freaking, lol, when it wasn't available..

mods do help, tho i've never been to a site , where the mod doesn't post a bit himself..
that way he knows a bit about the subject..
THANK YOU!!!

Whispered - I am in your camp.  I have never known of a Forum with a moderator who is unable to post.  I believe that also violates Free Speech Rights.  I have never been big on moderators in general, except for warning violators of the posted rules and everyone knows who are the flamers and drivebys are, so those are easy to ban.  Usually the moderators have their own section where the rest of the Forum cannot see their deliberations, when warnings are decided are necessary, and a committee vote before someone is banned.  What is sad is the amazing amount of people with deep seated mental problems who show up here.  Sad.

Well, personally, I would not want to mod a site like this.  I can not see how it would violate someone's free speech if that person agreed to the mod job and agreed to not posting.  C'mon people let's not make a whole big political issue out of this.  It was just an idea.  Calm down.  Sheeesh.  I know how to mod a site.  Don't need anyone to tell me how since I do it on a couple of other sites.  Most of the time on a moderated site you really don't need to do all that much warning and banning.  When people know there is a mod or mods they pretty much keep themselves in check  to save themselves them embarrassment of being warned or banned.  Having a mod that does not post keeps that mod impartial.  This is the only site I would suggest that because of the attitude of some of the members.  Wouldn't want any mod accused of taking sides with their friends or coming down particularly harsh on someone they do not like.  Mainly what I do as a mod is keep track of the part of the forum I am moderating and make sure that the questions posted there are being answered.  There is only one time as a mod that I have had to warn someone.  Maybe just maybe if people could moderate themselves and act like adults mods would not be needed here.  This is the only site I am on where the members get so out of control and revert to behavior that is reminiscent of junior high and high school.  Just a thought people, just a thought.

As far as those ridiculous trolls go that advertise their wares to help with the male organ...it would be very easy to get rid of those of bots.  All the owner has to do is put into the database one of those programs where you have to write the letters and numbers in the little box when you sign up for an account.  You can't post here unless you are a member! I will be darned if I can remember the name of that program.  I have to do it on myspace for a few of my friends when I leave them comments.    C'mon someone help out my brain please!!!  Someone here has to know what I am talking about lol.  Help!!

Anywhooooo.....calm down.  I am the last person in the world that would take away anyone's right to free speech.  Sheeeesh.  Does everything have to be taken so seriously around here?  Loosen up people!!!!  Mod or no mod...this is still a great site.  And with any site no matter what it is....you have to put up with the bad with the good.  It just al depends on how much you are going to take and are you going to be part of the problem or part of the solution??
Ernest thank you for keeping us going.  meme
I'm also adding my voice to the call for a moderator.

Judy
Glad to see it's up and running. Good stuff :)  Wow...this is like a UFO sighting!

Ernest, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for maintaining this board so the rest of us can come together and butt heads. I for one appreciate it!Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ernest! You did a wonderful job with the new forum! Yes, mods would be nice.  It would be nice for the admin to have mods that do not post and their sole purpose is to impartially moderate the forum.  It would be super nice if bygones were bygones and everyone have a fresh start with each other since the forum has a fresh start.

It would also be nice to have an area where we can goof around and put our daily chat...or jokes...and stuffs like that.

****edited because I have an old brain that forgot to put something in the post****

My thoughts exactlyBe careful what you wish for. Day 3!

I would love to be wrong here! Come on Ernie, prove me wrong and

ANSWER THESE PEOPLE!!!!
No, I'd really rather have him involved. I've thought about it. I know there would be ups and downs, but ya know...........I dunno. It's just my opinion I guess. I like the new look of the site, mods would be fantastic here...it would make all the difference in the world and maybe even bring back some of the members we have lost in the last year. Also polls would be fun, I would also like to see that enabled. Ernest, I hope you will be a more reachable administrator this time around.Lovie,
Click on the post options, it is in the drop down menu.Love it! Thanks. There are no new sections, they've always been there. Just.....no one's ever posted in them. I dunno why!

I think there's TOO many, it's incredibly overwhelming and WAY too hard to keep up with.
I like the new look....we were due for a little change. Thanks to who ever is responsible for the changes. I know how much work is involved.

I don't know how to edit a post so I'll just post again:

There seems to be a lot of new sections. Theirs a friends section that might satisfy a lot of folks that want a chit-chat section.

In my opinion I'm fine with no mods. I don't really care for someone policing everything that's said....but It might help get things orginized around here. I agree it's easier to navigate a site when things are in order. Looks like they are attempting to do that for us; but no one wants to move around the site. The only section used much is the RA section.

I personally can navigate around it all and often participate in the OT threads....but is it really too much to ask to use sections set up for OT things? On this board as in society people cry out repeatedly for change and then when change is set before them they still complain. It baffles me.
HOW DO YOU EDIT? I never see typos until it's too late!!I kind of have mixed feelings on it..on the old sushi site we had many categories and it minimized a lot of repetitive topics..but then again some of the repeat stuff and the OT stuff is what fuels the board along. Otherwise, you get all the info you need and no one has much left to say. I had mixed reviews from members about having so many heading and topic areas. Many liked it, but some found it more of a hassel to sort through it all. In the end, I sort of like the catch all area for RA...but..eh..it's nice the other way too.
Yep..no one ever is satisfied..lol..including me!
A PMR friend here.  Ran across this and thought I would say hi.  I was diagnosed in April 07 with PMR and Dec 07 with thumb arthritis.
I will check back soon and see if you have seen this post.

Yeah; I guess you're right. It's not really different....just looks different (Like everything else; LOL)

Having is all in one place makes it faster to scan the topics and see what interest you and what doesn't. Luckily for the board the "OT" in the subject line has really taken off and that really helps.

Either way; This is a great board.
helloThanks the site is a lifeline to maintaining my sanity

dear ernest                                                                 yes, thank you for this fine forum , it 's been a blessing for many of us .I again want to say thank you for providing this forum for our use . god bless you ferhad

Thanks for all your help on this site.  It has been very helpful.
I appreciate the new site, but it would have been nice if there were some way to know it was happening! I couldn't get on all of a sudden when i needed to & it has taken WEEKS for me to be able to log back in. Even a link saying new site under construction would have helped.
Thanks and good luck!

aahhhhh yessss!  spoken like true liberals. you all want to control what people have on their minds and not allow them to speak it. obama will do it for youHi everyone,
I am new to the site as well and will be posting questions and responses as possible.  I have posted previously that I have recently created a website based on the clinical trial work and research I have done on Osteoarthritis: www.IHaveOsteoarthritis.com I must say I am new to creating websites and realize that although there is a lot of content, I am still working on making it more usable etc.  Recently, I have changed the home page with smaller sections and a Did You Know? section.  Is this a likeable format? A few of you have replied with comments on how to improve it and let me know what is needed.  Can I ask a few of you to visit the site and offer any suggestions/comments?  I am trying to make it as useful as a resource as possible.
Thanks in advance for your feedback
I am so new to this.  How can I view a reply or find out if there is a reply to my posting???? hi! im a newbie here... hi linB! its true i find some very interesting and informative discussions here! and i want to give thanks to all... who will be sharing a lot of their knowledge.. and me too, would like to share my knowledge and opinions.

thanks & god bless!

Hi and welcome to the forum.  There is only one moderator and that's Ernest.  This forum is wide open and anything and everything can be posted.  Sometimes you have to wade through the garbage to find the nuggets of information.  Right now there are a few bullies posting on the forum but they'll probably soon go away.  They get tired and bored if no one plays their game.  It's worth sticking around because there are a lot of wonderful people and good advice.  Don't let the bullies run you off.  Come on over and post on the Rheumatoid Arthritis thread.  That's where everyone hangs out.  Welcome again.  Lindyhello my husband has AS and is on enbrel does anyone know what happens if thhis don't work? It would be nice to chat with someone else who is dealing with the same thing.
I'm new to this wonderful site, just found it yesterday after being dx w/pmr and gca since Nov 06.  been on prednisone since then.  What all is involved being a moderator? Ernest,  thank you so much for this site,  I just found it yesterday.  It's good to know that one is not alone in tackling this disease.   what all is involved in being a modeator?
