Hey Everyone!  Strike one for the good guy's.  I have been having so much trouble with my Insurance company.  They will not approve me getting Rimacaid. My Doctor is so upset and tired of dealing with these people that he decided that he is going to get a hold of the I.C.. I just thought you guys might appreciate hearing that. Not helping me much at the moment! What's funny is they tried to tell my husband it's my Dr.'s fault!  It was good to hear him(Doc) get rattled. LOL LOL LOL

It's amazing how the insurance companies want to tell us what we need and what we don't need. I think you have to be on a step program before they approve remicade- in other words you have to try several other drugs first to see if they will work. Never mind that the doctor knows what's best and that you have to suffer through extra days of pain using the other stuff.Free, that's what they want me to do! I am on MTX, but it makes me so fatigued. He said my RA, and sed rate is high and he feel's I would best be served having Rimacid. Your right though I am the one suffering ( go figure )

Sometimes if the doctor presses the issue with the insurance company they will relent. Do you think the doctor is willing to make a phone call on your behalf?

Recently I had not slept in 2 weeks due to a a 12 hr. severe pain cycle. My doctor prescribed Lunesta and Aetna said NO. Take Ambien. My doctor was furious. She called them and told them that Ambien has a ton of bad side effects that the Lunesta does not and that Ambien is not approved for long term use and I will be needing it long term. They ended up paying for it.
Free, That's the kicker he has faxed the information. He has called them several times himself and that's not counting the rimcaid nurse. I am on a first name bases' with the people that call you from Rimacaid. I am sure they are hoping they will when in this tug of war(the insurance company that is. You know the thing is Free were the one's always stuck in the middle.

Bunch of jerks. They should feel your pain for a little while and then answer again.Hopefully I will hear from my Doc. next week that they have resovled the issue. The MTX alone is just not cutting it. I have kept movig up the days when I take my injections. I do agree with you they are JERKS!!!!!!!!!!Don't just leave it up to your doctor to report to the IC, you should do it.  Multiple complaints about the same insurance company get their attention quickly.  Write a letter outlining the problems, with people's names, dates, times, and responses.  Your letter will help.  LindyI agree with Lindy. Be proactive. Write, email, telephone, make your voice heard.

With the time restraints imposed on many physicians and the increasing lack (an/or inefficiency) of ancillary support, 'secretaries', patient advocates, designated and available office managers, requests and/or complaints from physicians to or about insurance companies are often lost to the aethers. Inmany cases the physicians work for those very companies or at least are contracted with them.

From experience I can say that a patients voice is often heard BEFORE a member of the medical community even gets recognized.

Be proactive and be your own patient advocate.

Courage!! Happ
Happ,Lin, My R/M told me to wait a couple of days. I intend to follow through this is starting to be beyound Funny. To be honest until he metioned it, I never had a thought about it.  He is really the first Doc. to ever go to bat for me. I think I found it ( should I say sweet). I know he's not been perfect, but I do feel lucky he's my Doc.
