Why OT subjects are needed~ imo | Arthritis Information

hi guys, I know i'm kinda new here.

I personally belive, that this is a great place, to vent, whine and discuss our RA stuff..
but .. saying that, I also believe its impt, to have some lighter subject matter..
WE ARE more then our RA... and i really believe we need some light topics, so we don't get all depressed.

Plus, being new and i can tell you're a close knit group, I appreciate your acceptance of newbies, it feels nice.

I just think some OT, is good for us, mentally and a good way to get to know each other.
It helps to get our minds off things, we can vent, then share and think about other things.
Sometimes, we get soo caught up in our pain, and what we can't do... that its like a
tune, a tape running over and over in our minds and we need to break it off.. w/ some lighthearted things.. just imo..

Thanks for being so welcoming and welcome to the other newbies!!~

Lets have some fun~I agree with you. We may have an illness but we are also normal thinking people who need to chat about everyday things too. We form friendships on here based on a disease but our personalities are made up from lots else besides that.I don't think anyone truly objects to off topic, until they seem to dominate the board at the expense of the express purpose of the board.  I think what many of us object to is the "anything goes attitude" that OT promotes in certain people.  We object to the nasty, mean, bullying, name calling. condenscending and plain old rude people that use off topic as an excuse for their behavoir.  Its the meaness that spills over to on topic discussions. And its not everyone its 5 or 6 people who are at the center of every discussion gone bad.  But of course it is never their fault..it was another poster that caused them to behave that way.  Behave like adults and off topics aren't a problem and no one complains.

And before anyone says don't read..you don't have to read the original topic.  Discussion A goes bad, so person A starts a new thread to complain about discussion A, person B starts a new thread to complan that they got inncently insulted in both discussion.  Pretty soon these 3 threads are at the top of the board with the same people arguing in all of them.  Changing the subject just keeps the topics on the first page.

as I said act like adults and there is no problem...unfortunatly too many people on this board can't..therefore we have problems
Hey most times... for an OT post I make... I try to counter it with an RA post. But sometimes... I have nothing but OT, because well... ya'll have already heard my song & dance, so why keep posting about it? Besides I like to save my RA posts for when I am doing bad or having a problem. Most times my RA topics are things I think about while trying to go to sleep or that I just keep thinking about. Have no fear, the OT's aren't going anywhere.  You know, a person with a chronic illness can only talk about their illness SO much.  OT's help people in many, many ways.  I think the big stink is over now that the OP has their panties back on the right way!
Phats
Right on Buckeye, Right On!   O.o

whats the OP??????? lol

I like OT's. (like you couldn't tell, right?) And not all OTs are just random, sometimes they're only OT because they're not RA related - but they can still be health related. We get a lot of those. I almost wish we had a different title for those...hmmm... HT? Health Topic???
Am I one of those 5 to 6 people? I know I use to be, but I have chilled out quite a bit.

Man... I need some sleep!

get some sleep...in my opinion you were not one of the 5 or 6 I was thinking of
Oh cool! I forgot I even replied to this post.

I think the "problem" regarding the OT's was venting gone wrong.  hopefully most, if not all see how important OT's are for everyone.  I thought we solved this a long, long time ago by putting OT?

Phats
I mean, come on, do we want to argue over whether is sky is blue too?
Hey my sky is Grey with water coming out of it Joonie,
You a TURD!  Joonie,
You a TURD!
See another form of the word poo!

Just call me the Poo Pixie... I sprinkle it where ever I go. ROTFLMAO!!! Can not forget to use my favorite color of all... baby poo green! Ok... is actually just called "Olive" on MSN Messenger, but I dubbed it what I just called it! Welp, I guess I am going to make that color my signature color for all my posts. Oohhhh I get it.

When I first saw it, all I could think of was "OPP."

Ya know, OPP?

"are you down with OPP? YEAH YOU KNOW ME!" (old rap song....)

Buckeye, you said it so well.  And now even this discussion is going awry, being bumped again and again by nonesense, kicking other threads to the curb.   Even the RA related threads are not safe from this garbage posting and I'm really getting sick of it.  Can you tell?  Keep the OTs, no problem.  But can't we at least have the courtesy to leave the RA related threads alone and not start a childish back and forth game that is totally unrelated to the topic?  Really, have some consideration for your fellow posters.  Enough already.  Katie and Joonie,
Would you stop already?  You are making this post go AWRY.  You are pi$$ing off your fellow Ra'ers.  Stop this childish nonsense this instant.
Dang, my leg is getting tired.  Katie, would you help me please?  Joonie, Buckeye, JSNM, anyone????  I need help kicking all the RA posts to the curb.  Please?  Anybody?  Help???
Ask rheumy, she's GREAT at it. Oh I guess you missed that thread. Its on that terribly long randy one. Some chick from RW that absolutely HATES me. Its hysterical.

SEE, I SWORE I'D KEEP THIS THREAD OT, AND DAMNIT I AM!! LOOK AT ME GO!!!
Somebody hates Katie-kins?  WTF?  Who is this person?
See, we can make a topic go on forever and every =)
LOL Shut up. "someone hates katie-kins" yeah like THAT'S a new phenomenon.

Give it a month, and you and me will be bitch slapping each other all over the boards again, I'm sure. I'm just $hitting you.  Of course we will go around and around again.  We're girls, we do that.
I really do try my hardest not to hijack someones thread. I have carried a quote from someone I wanted to reply back to on someone elses thread to the OT: Daily thread, but it hardly ever gets seen by that person I am replying back to.

I am sorry, that certain words or phrases cause me to hijack posts. I mean it could be worse... I could be hijacking my own RA related threads... oh wait... I already do that. I wasn't talking about hijacking just this post in particular and I think you know that.  It was just one more example of what a few people on this board do to make it more difficult for those who are really in need of support.  And how mature of you to continue to post time after time just for the purpose of bumping it up, without adding anything to the discussion.  What do you care if someone's RA post gets moved down again and again?  Typical and very indicative of what's wrong with this board.  I used to think it was the best one out there because it's the most active,  but in the last few days it's become clear the childish, self-serving posters, one of whom has a rabid superiority complex, are taking over this forum.  They have no regard for others who really need this board to stay on track.  There must be hundreds of boards where you can have your silly chats as much as you want.  Why does it have to be at an RA board?  This is why other forums have moderators.

I don't know.  Maybe it's because I'm on 30 mg. of prednisone this week that I have no more tolerance for this crap.  But I know it's been getting increasingly difficult to sort through the garbage and get to the true purpose of this forum.

I'm done with this thread.  We can go on forever but nothing's going to change here until we have a moderator who can keep the kiddies in line.
I try to bump newbies posts back to the top after I have replied to all the OT posts, so that the OT post gets bumped down and the RA related posts stay at the top. But it is kinda hard to do that when we are more active thru certain times of the day and night to keep the RA related posts back on top. I do go on to the 2nd page and see if any of the RA related posts have more than a few replies, if not I bump it back to the 1st page. But I know I have been lacking in doing that, but I also am not feeling well or I forget to or my hubby rushes me off the computer.

I do try.
Stop it Joonie, stop it!
Jesse88,
Why don't you get off the Pred, then come back when your 'Roid rage is gone.  Your grumpy.
