I was just wondering how many members fall in the 50 age group here like me?

I went for my 3rd remicade infusion today and was surprised by the different age groups there.  "I am 57"

I'm in the 40 age group

going to be 55 on fridayTurned 50 in October49 in September, so I guess I have to admit to myself that the 40's are about over.    Time to look ahead to 50's and more freedom and less worry about what people thinK?I'm admitting this grudgingly, I'm a young 63.  I was diagnosed 10 years ago.  Lindy LinB2008-02-06 18:20:50

39 (fer real, not like some others here...) I am 33, was diagnosed 2 yrs ago this month...symptoms started in mid 20s but didnt get bad enough for me to want to see the RD untill I was 31. (about 7yrs after onset of symptoms)

Full-scale symptoms at 47, DXd at 48, Turning 50 in a few weeks

I will be 50 in May.  I was diagnosed 2  1/2 years ago but had my knees replaced in 2000 and 2001 after 3 years of symptoms.  So I guess it really started 10 years ago  when I was 39.I am a very old 41 and was "officially" dx this time last year.  I figure It started about 30ish!I started at 35

I will be 44 in june and was diagnosed about 11 years ago but had swollen fingers in my teens.....who knows when it started but it just wont go away

I'm told I look younger than I am (fat fills in all the wrinkles

Hers is more Poly, mine is classic RA.

48

39, forty in May. Dx nearly three years ago in April 2005. Believe onset was eight years before that and my symptoms were not picked up until I got severely bad in 2004/2005, maybe because I am seronegative and every doctor I saw thought I had post natal depression. By the time I was dxed, I couldn't hold a knife and fork nor pick my two year old up. Suspect my RA may go back to childhood and has progressed slowly in  degenerative phases. I'm 55 years old, feel 25 some days, 75 on others.

Not diagnosed yet, but I'm almost 49. I notice many women have been diagnosed at around that age. Like peri menopause isn't hard enough! 47 DX- Nov 07

Do you think we are going thru the change too and it's triggered it?
I think it has a whole lot to do with it!!! Not to hijack the post but -

I believe there is a lot to do with hormones and RA. There are women who have RA after the birth of a child, and women who go into remission during pregnancy, and those of us who can tell we flare worse during our periods. So yeah, I do think it's possible, for some women, that it was "triggered" so to speak, by pre-menopause, or just menopause in general.

That's exactly what I think, too much of a coincidence.there has to be something to it.

Meh... I'm in a weird group. I believe my RA kicked in after I broke my hand in 2005. Then it went into remission while I was pregnant and reared it's ugly head at 110% a couple of weeks after giving birth. I dunno if it had to do with my female parts or not.Sixty-four.  Diagnosed at 25 after birth of second child.   Symptoms started when first child was one month old, then disappeared when became pregnant again.

SEE!!! I also believe that there has to some connection between hormones and  RA, why else would it be mostly women?   Sorry to the guys for this comment.    I haven't started menopause yet, a few symptoms, but not full-blown.  Curious for those that have and are taking estrogen, did you see a change in your RA?

Hi,

I am now 44 at end of the month. I was 28 at onset, just lost 32 1/2 kilos when symptoms started, diagnosed at 30 years. Drs believe the loss of weight mixed with chronic stress at the time uncovered the genetic disposition I had to the disease. Who knows but once I had it, I was stuck with it. I didn't have any trouble during my pregnancies or just after it. Although, I couldn't conceive after my second child and that may be due to the SLE.
60, infected with arthritis in 1985.

This has been the best year of my life as I am able to do things I haven't been able to do for twenty years....like snowshoeing.
