I forget what post I asked you about your can opener. Now I can't find it
I need one and I keep throwing out crap that doesn't work!

Internet search shows people either absolutely hating it or loving it? How long have you had yours?

Some say the batteries die fast and opener has to be pried off the lid etc..

Anyone else have a good one? Either we're all suddenly "challenged" in my house, the can makers are making lousy cans, or the new electric can openers are for crap! we can't get the darn cans to line up under the cutter and open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had a Black & Decker cordless rechargeable can opener for about 12 years now. It works great. I don't know about the other's but mine has stood the test of time.

My parents gave it to me for Christmas a couple years after the onset of RA. I couldn't work the manual ones and the electric one I had took up too much counter space and didn't work good anyway.

I have two and hate them! they go through batteries like crazy and I cannot pry it off if it stops in the middle. Hubby bought me a hand crank kind. It's hard to describe, but the handle is round and it has a half loop on the end. He bought it at the expensive kitchen store at the mall. He said it was around

I do not have a one touch can opener, Liz aka Ra_Momma does.

But sometimes wished I had one for when my other can opener is gone to work LMAO!!
I have one of those old-school manual ones. It has a huge handle part on it that's kinda mushy. Sometimes I'm able to use it, but most of the time DH tackles the task.

I second that they are just making lousy cans, WTB!I have a one touch can opener and I love it. I was having such a hard time with the old manual one. I just place the opener on the can and push the button. It may go around the can twice, if it's a small can, but it's so nice to just lift the can opener off the can without touching the lid. If, I haven't used it in a long time, I change the batteries. But I haven't had any problems with it. Plus I placed a little tag, with the battery exp date, on the outside of the can opener.
In fact because I love the opener so much, I'm going to get the battery operated jar opener. It hurts my hand to struggle with opening the jar.

marisaHi Joonie,

I got a 'One Touch' push button can opener for Christmas from one of my daughters and I love it.  I don't open that many cans in a week, maybe 5-6, so I haven't had to change the batteries.  Yes, the opener does keep going after one full revolution, but I don't care.  Sure beats flexor tendon inflammation from manually twisting the crank on a Swingline opener.
The top of the can does stick to the opener but I just hold the opener in my hand and flick the top into the trash with the back of my thumb.  Works for me.

K.
HMMMM what to do what to do.....

I just know if I buy one I'll get the dud
hmmm, maybe I just need to change the battery. When I first got it at Christmas, and it worked great. It gets a work out so, yep, may need new batteries. Will, have to work on that and let ya'll know if it works better after.

The drama continues.......lol
OK- I was in the Rite Aid yesterday and low and behold there was the One Touch Can Opener off for . The store clerk said he loves his and his sister who was visiting and never saw one in her country bought one too.

So I broke down and bought it- figured it's an omen.

So far I haven't needed to open any cans.....
