I've noticed that I've been ditching out on some of my make-up routine when I feel bad. I just can't grip stuff right, or I'm shakey, etc etc. I have yet to figure out ways around this. I really LIKE doing my make up, I feel all cute and girly. lol

Does anyone have any tips for eye-liner? That's my biggest one I have to ditch on. WAY more often than I want to, too. I can manage mascara even on bad days, which is good. For foundation, I use a MASSIVE sponge applicator. So easy to hold and spread!!! And for the powder, I used pressed compact, but I swish a big brush in it, so I don't use a lot. The brush is really really fat, I think I got it from wal-mart, it's easy to hold.

Also, since my new hair cut, I had to get a flat-iron. I was really intimidated by them, because it requires you to squeeze it. I thought for sure I'd have issues. I ended up getting a con-air, it's black and yellow and was only at Target. You can make it so hot, that you barely have to grip it! So that was a big relief! And it is REALLY light-weight. My hands had been cramping all morning, and the iron didnt bother me at all!!

I guess I was just wondering if anyone else had stumbled upon anything nifty that helped with beauty "stuff"!!!
Not curling iron, flat iron! :-D It's SUPER short, and really cute now that I have the iron. I'll have to take a pic.

LOL@sitting on the sink. You should see ours! We have a tiny tiny 2 bedroom apartment, and we barely have room for our crap, let alone my fat rear end.

You're so right about having the application arm braced, I'll have to figure something out for that. We don't have a dining room, so no table :( But there's gotta be a way!!!!
Since becoming a mom, I've gone with wash-n-wear hair.  I also don't wash it every day, because it gets too dried out.  On the days I don't wash it, I still condition it.  For makeup, sometimes I'll use a base/powder combo if my skin is a bit gnarly, and a swipe of lipgloss, blush and mascara.   The husband still tells me I'm "hot" can't do liquid eyeliner...

i have good luck with a smudge brush, it's a little thicker than a eyeliner brush, and powdered eyeliner, dark...I bought it at a Lancome Counter, but i'm sure Tareget has one
It also depends what color eyeshadow you are wearing, since i use brown, the powdered eyeliner, gives a nice soft, smoky look..
It's so much easier for me to control, than a liquid eyeliner

I tend to skip the makeup and just put lotion all over the place. When I do get all decked out, DH looks at me like he's never seen me before. LOL I splurged on that BareMinerals makeup and I love it. You put powder on with brushes. (They had a starter kit for when I went. It was foundation colors, bronzer, blush & mineral veil stuff.) I skip the mascara because I have a total lack of lashes. :'(  As far as eyeliner, I've got the pencil stuff, but I think a dark eyeshadow would probably accomplish the same thing. Is that smudged look still in?? My hair is in the perpetual SAHM bun. I add some clips for flair. hehe

Yeah, I def. have to use a powder eye shadow. You can be smudgy with it, and it looks good. LoL

The eyeliner is what kills me. The way my eyelashes are, it has to come out as a really thin line, or I look like I'm trying to work the corners. LOL But, when done right, looks AMAZING. So I do like doing it. It's just super hard on bad hand days. I'll try it anyway, but end up with a bad line, or too thick, and I get fed up and wipe it all off. :(
The eyeliner I have, is max factor. It's not liquid, but it's not a pencil. It's in a plastic tube, and you twist it up. There's a "sharpener" on the bottom to make a tip if you need it. Its the only one I've found that gives a thin line like I need. Pencils don't work, they just seem to.......stab me, really. LoL

I love Bare Minerals have been using them for a couple of years. haven't tried any of the eye makeup.Jan, I've seen the eye makeup, but since I don't wear it often I haven't tried it. I bet it would be pretty awesome though.

Katie! Do you have an Ulta or Sephora nearby? Go in and have them do a free makeover on your bad days! LOL

I was thinking about it and I bet if you told them up front what your problem was there'd probably be someone there that would help you out whenever you need it. Those people are certified Cosmotologists and they're really nice. :)

LOL Snow! I always see those ladies when we walk through the store and they usually look bored!
MrsA2008-02-08 17:54:38Boooo I live in a po-dunk town, in that respect. Never even seen a Macy's actually....lolREALLY?! Wow....  Well, there goes that suggestion then. I doubt the girls at the Piggly Wiggly could be of any help. (And if they looked anything like the girls at Lowes I saw the other day, you don't want their help! hehe) How is Justin with an eyeliner pencil? ;)  Love ya!!!
Nowadays you can get eyeliner tattooed on. I have three aunts that did it as well as lipliner. It doesn't look bad at all. :)
MrsA2008-02-08 18:15:36Hey Katie,
Someone else mentioned powder liner...I use an eye liner brush with it. It is a very thing angled brush, I am sure you have seen them.  But anyway, I either use cream eyeliner with it or any dark eye shadow and mix some water in it. It's good because you don't have to be really precise about it.  I am so bad at putting on eye liner, if I use a pencil I aways use the smudgey thing at the end to blend it in and you can't even tell how bad you messed it up! hahah

Justin is actually TERIFFIC with eyeliner. He taught me how to do it. He's a sort of glam rock boy sometimes. EVER so hot, too! *drools*

I'm glad you mentioned the tattoo.............I may look into that!!! Wonder how much it hurts there? *shudders*
Gasp faint, never seen a Macys... ohh dear!
ok I'm a total makeup whore, love it and it is one thing, i'm good at!.. i've got at least 20 lipsticks, lipliners etc.. what you really need yes, darlin, is a makeup mirror.. I have a whole table, lol.. filled w/ products.. ok have you tried the dotting on mascra method for eyeliner, then using a q-tip or liner brush.. or just finger, if its not shakey? or just an applicator and put some eyeshadow on underneath..and above.
I personally, like lots of layers and different colors, blended together. I like to play and explore~

He is a hottie too. LoL
Do you have any allergies to dairy, gluten etc.?  Many popular products contain these ingredients.

I have had rashes on my lips from lipstick with dairy.

You can try and find natural or organic makeup if you have reactions.
I had permanent make up done for my upper and lower eyeliner and my eyebrows. It didn't hurt and I love it. The eyeline will last about 10 years. Eyebrows a little less because I have very light hair so I had to go to a lighter shade for the brows. Cost for eyeliner was 0...but worth every bit. Make sure you find one that does a good job...Hair is my bigger issue...mine is long and curly and I ain't cuttin it just for these darn illnesses.  Combing it is tough, styling is wash n' wear...just a little scrunching with gel and then air dry.

As for make-up, the most important accessory is the toilet.  Yep, you read that right.  When we moved to our place in August, I wasn't very happy with the bathrooms...the mirror covers the whole wall above the vanity, and the countertop covers not only the sink but also behind the toilet.  Well, now I couldn't be happier.  To do my make-up, I just put down the toilet lid and sit on it backwards...I can lean my elbows against the counter and the mirror is inches from me.  Perfect!

I rarely use eye make-up because of my allergies (and mascara is an absolute no-no for me), but I have this great cream eyeshadow in a twist "pen" that makes things simple.  It's Eyeglide by Revlon, but I think they may have discontinued it because I can't find it anywhere anymore. (Please, please, please let me know if anyone finds it!)  Foundation and powder are both sponge-applied, concealer is in a stick, blush is applied with a brush, and my lipstick is a standard tube, although I'm having trouble finding the right color now that mine's discontinued.

Why oh why do the make-up manufacturers have to keep discontinuing products and colors only to come out with new products that will be discontinued within a year or so.  Bleh!
Hmmm, that must be the "new" version because those colors are all different.  I want my Lilac back!  Maybe I'll think about Jade.  Thanks for the link!OK, I found my Lilac on Ebay...never thought to check there!0????? Really?? Can't a regular ol' tattoo shop do it? I'm confused.... Ok, i have to say this about putting on makeup in the bathroom, esp by the toilet.. ewwww
I mean I've read too many sanitary reports about even w/ the lid being closed, how many germs escape when flushed.. .. just too icky to even think about !!!

and think about your makeup being infected by all those germs..and whats really going on your face!!!

ok to another topic, lol, I can't imagine being rich enough to spend $ on pernament eyeliner, but hey if it makes you happy!

So far, I haven't had much of a problem putting on eyeliner..
and ohhh ohhh, ok, has anyone ever used ORGINS.. their ginger scrub for the body?!!
sigh, its FANTASTIC... its normally 25 bucks, a jar, but i managed to get it on a trade board, for 5 bucks.. Love it, very invigorating!!

katie, i think it takes a special class, and beauticians would do a better job, of pernament eyeliner, then a tattoo shop...(they're used to going a bit deeper into the skin).. if that makes sense. Ok, my makeup lives in a zippered bag in my purse that I only bring into the bathroom to apply.  My lid is always closed for flushing and we have this weird habit of cleaning the bathroom, too. LOL innerglow, i'm sorry  lol, boy was i grumpy this morning, intense cramps and it still is this thing i have, about makeup and bathrooms, Lol ... oh not to mention hairdryers!!! hee

ohh by the way, my hair is curly past the shoulders, it just refuses to straighten out  and just curls if it gets any longer.. i've really given up trying to find anything that tames it!!
lol
