Here is a picture of the snake hubby found in the skimmer last night. It kinda looks like a baby diamond back rattler. It likes to coil up & strike.

Do you have a better pic of it's tail? Or a closer up of its markings? It looks all black in this pic. How long is it? Is that light colored diamond shapes on it? How long is that sucker ? I can't stand snakes!Nope that is the best pic of it. Hubby said it is about 8 inches long. It's tail, it did not have any beads at the tip. It was just recently hatched.

Yes, the light color is diamond shaped. That is why we believe it to be a diamond back.
joonie2008-02-10 22:19:29 Diamond backs are born with mini rattles. But not all rattlers are, some grow them later. Just diamonds are that way, I think.

What color is it?

Looks like a diamond back baby rattler to me too. Be careful, aren't they poisonous?

WAIT I REMEMBER NOW!!!! He's not a rattler, his head isn't shaped right. rattlers have a "heart" shaped head. Im gonna find what kind he is, just wait! I'm on a mission now...LOL GO LOL KATIE THE SNAKE CHARMER!!!Does he look like any of these?

This is the one that I think it is:

He looks more like the Timber Rattler. I have looked at all the snakes on that page and he looks like the Timber Rattler the most.

I have encountered at ratsnake at in-laws house last summer. And I almost stepped on the damn thing. But I did not because when I walk a look at the ground so I know what I am going to step on and to help make sure I do not step in a pothole or dip.

Anyways... that rat snake was almost 4 foot long. They measured him after they killed him. They were not sure what kind he was, if they knew he was a rat snake they would have let him be. But I was freaking and just standing there screaming, because let's face it... I can not run and if it was a damn runner snake he would have ran after me and if he was a poisionous snake he would have struck me. I was right on top of him.

I do not know. It is kinda hard to tell, because it is a baby and going by a pic. But Hubby & FIL think it is some kinda of rattler.
