New epsom salt/hydrogen peroxide experience!!!!  AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

(All is well now, though....)

Last night, my daughter said her thumb hurt.  "Like it is broken".  AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

ALL the rheums say the thumb is fine.  Me, the OT, the ped, etc., etc., etc., have been thinking 'not' for about a year.

So, on the Mommy Meter, up up up for "I was right"; down down down for "I was right."  Leaving me at Neutral Zombie/Hit Me Baby One More Time.

My daughter said, "Let's do a soak."  Oh, my sweet little self-care prodigy....

She said the warm salt water made it feel better, but not all the way.  Poured the HP.  Thumb area did not fizz.  Fat finger did, faintly.  Wrist did, faintly.  Like a whisper, more of a..shshshshizzle.

No real surprises there, but then.....she said it itched like crazy!  Everything that had soaked.  She was scratching frantically, asking if people could get fleas!!!  She asked for lotion.

I said let's wash it off, then get lotion.  Washing didn't make a difference, she was still digging at it, but lotion calmed it down.

I told her to please tell me in the morning how it felt.  I asked her to please remember to tell me on her own, so I didn't have to ask (because I'm afraid that 'plants seeds').  But she had no complaints or anything when she got up and finally I asked and she said everything was fine, she didn't even notice a thing.  She even played with a big, real basketball with her sister.

Anybody had that happen?  Itching???  Anybody???
Thanks, SnowOwl!  I understand the itching when the skin gets taunt, like when your big preggo belly itches.  It's just that it didn't itch until she soaked.  I know they say heat can cause inflammation, so maybe the warm soak maybe it worse?  She has just never had that reaction before.

Suzanne, I have had some itching afterwards, but I am not a small little girl anymore.  LOL  I am glad it stopped.  Guess you will find out when she says yes or no to another fizzle.  You are a marvelous mother.  CathyCorrect me if I'm wrong - but only APers fizzle right?  So...maybe she drew something out.
And anything out is good?!?!?!

HP makes me itch if I have something infected. I just DO. Dunno why. You know how kids scream about it burning and stuff? It's ALWAYS made me itch.

Has she EVER itched with HP before?? Cause you've used it on her before already, right?? I can't remember.
[QUOTE=arriscolwell]You know how kids scream about it burning and stuff?

Never heard of HP causing a burning feeling.  All I've seen it do is cause a bubbling effect.
Okay well..........I guess Jenny was weird. LOL Okay, yeah. Jenny's still weird.  She's the only childhood friend I can remember any association with HP. But then again, she WAS a big titty baby..........heeeheeee

So it's NOT supposed to burn??? It still makes me itch like crazy, just FYI.
I know it was on here before, but ya'll tell me how to do the salt bath? Do you use peroxide too? How much of each? I would like to give it a try to see what happens. Do you rinse off when done and how long you sit in it??
This is curiouser and curiouser. Do only ap people fizzle?
OK I'm done for now, no more questions. LOL
thanks
Cin - I cannot remember if there is some official way to do it - but I start a tub of very warm water and add about 2 cups of Epsom salts.  Then I soak for five minutes in order to open the pores.  Then you are suppose to add something like 32 oz (I think that's two big bottles of HP) to it.  I just won't go that high - I will maybe use one whole bottle.  And I put it in by standing back up and pouring it on me, letting it drip down into the bath, but I try to hit all my joints and spine.  Then I soak again for 30 minutes.  That's how I do it.  And someone else posted that regular OTC HP you can buy cheap at the stores isn't real HP or something like that, you need to buy special HP or get a script from your MD for real HP.  frain bog, sorry ~~ CathyKatie, yes to the previous ES/HP; no to the itching.  It was new, that was why I wanted to know if it happened to anybody else.

Cindee, I have seen posts that some people feel really bad after a whole body ES/HP soak, some swear they would never do it again.  So, based on that, I was always afraid to try it on my daughter.  Then Gimpy-a-go-go posted how she does it - soaks in the saltwater, then just pours on the HP after.  I used that method in a small basin to only do 'parts' of my daughter.  She has always enjoyed it - just this itching the last time was different.

Update:  She played and did everything all day yesterday normally with her thumb.  I asked at bedtime, and she said it hurt  "a little".  I asked how it felt this morning, and she said fine.  I asked how it hurt yesterday, and she said when she bent it.  I asked which joint and pointed, "Here or here?"  She said, "I-cant-a-mem-ba", transalation, she can't remember.  Great....
No trauma?  Do it again!   Seriously, it drew something out and that's good.  Remember, from the other posts, it just gets lighter and lighter.  I don't think anybody posted a major fizzle after the beginning couple of times.

And Cindee - please try.  So far, if I remember correctly, only the APer's fizzled.

And how do we expect to go to Oslo with our new science of Fizzioology when we lost our original studies?

LOL
