I have been taken off of enbrel due to an allergic reaction. I thought it was just a site reaction until my leg swelled up badlly, I developed a severe rash and my mouth and tongue became numb. I am ok now but it was very frightning. I am seeing my rheumy on Wed. to see where I go from here. My doctor said I have a very low tolerence to meds as I had problems with oral mtx, gold, sulphasalazine, lefluminide. All the others are so much stronger meds that I wonder if there will be stronger side effects....................
What about AP?
P.S. - On the bright side of things, there were no ferrets involved..........
Lisa, have you been on Remicade yet? It's like that's why you take the drug to get the swelling down, not going the other way. That's just horrible!! I'm so glad it wasn't any worse. Didn't you just start Enbrel or have you been on it a while. (Sorry I had to ask - we have such a huge family here that I get some of ya'll mixed up!Oh, sweetie!

Maybe you should see about trying AP... it might work for you. You did say when you were on antibiotics of in infection you felt the best you had in a long time. Maybe AP is what you need to work toward?

Lisa, I'm so sorry you've had such a bad reaction. I know it hasn't been that long since you were feeling so good. I was sure hoping that they had finally found something that was going to help you stay feeling good for a very long time!
It's pretty scarey to keep reacting to things that are supposed to help you. Try to keep positive, Sweetie. I know how hard that is when something keeps knocking you back down again, but I know you can do it.

Sorry, that does sound scary and awful. How long were you on enbrel? Was it your first shot? I take benedryl when I take my enbrel cuz I itch alot all over.
I hope you get to doing better soon.

Hi all, I have had 9 shots of enbrel so far in a row. I had 3 before but had to stop as I had an infection. I do take an anti histamine but this time it didnt work . I am going to explore other avenues.
Katie- If ferrets were the key to RA cure I think id have to be hynotised to hold one.
