If you have had tendonitis, what treatment have you had for it?

Where did you have tendonitis at?Wrist, awful pain and third finger of same hand, wrist clean out and release of carpal tunnel nerve.  Tarsal tunnel in feet, steroid shots.  Hugs Janie. Wrist/thumb, possibly in the neck, probably in the right knee.

Um. Nothing really? I have a special brace for my wrist/thumb. It works WONDERS. And I have my knee immobilizer for when that gets bad. And the muscle relaxers work for my neck, which is why we're not POSITIVE on what it really is.

Well okay, then I guess the treatment is rest. It works for me anyway!
feet, wrist, shoulder. Treated with heat/ice alternating and rest, plus muscle relaxers and pain meds. It hurts but it does go away after some time.
Rest, girl, Rest.
elbow and fingers-cortisone shots and braces

Ouchie! I have tendonitis in my right elbow (tennis elbow) is what my Dr called it. It hurts like the devil! It's always a tender spot on the tip end but when it flares up I can't move or bend my elbow, sometimes have to wear a sling. I've had cortizone shots, pain meds, heat and ice, and anti-inflammitorys. I can't tell much difference in it and bursitis as far as the pain goes.

My left ankle is acting like it might have tendonitis, because back taowrds the archilles tendon I have been having horrid pain everytime I walk on it or try to flex it or move it out of the position it is in.

PLUS, RD thought my right hip pain might be caused by tendonitis, if the nuclear bone scan did not show anything wrong in terms of hip replacement.

Hugs to each and every one of you!
Joonie,

90% of the time when I flare, it feels like tendonitis.

I HAVE had tendonitis in my shoulder since being diagnosed with RA which was treated with ice, rest, etc, etc.  Before RA, I had a terrible bout with tennis elbow.  I had the cortisone shots, ultrasound therapy, and physical therapy which included the Grafton procedure twice.  Nothing helped.  It finally got better on it's own.

kweenb2008-02-19 05:52:47I'm not sure if it's tendonitis or the A/I disease, but my right elbow became very painful at the tip to where I couldn't lift the arm without major pain and the pain shot down to my middle finger.  The left elbow was starting too but the RA meds I'm on helped a lot and usually there's no more problem there.  My right elbow had tendon release surgery and it worked great.wrist, thumb, elbow, big toe.

for the thumb I used metal splints, and they helped a lot, for the elbow, rest,  NSAIDS, and a strap st the elbow, for the wrist, splints.. for the big toe...nuthin and it STILL hurts all the  dam time.

Rest is the biggest thing I think.  too bad I can't rest  my toe.
I have it in the shoulders.  And once you get it it pretty much doesn't go away.  Or at least mine.  And I was told since it's been two years plus it will never go away.  Painful for sure.
All I have ever been give in anti-inflamitories.  I have yet to find anything that helps really.

Heat will at times but I can never sleep on my right side.  If I do it's for just minutes at a time.  It really stinks that there seems to be nothing to make it go away for good.
Thanks for the replies everyone.

I am sorry that each of you have this pain and problem and nothing seems to help you.

I had it before I got pregnant, but I've only experienced it once or twice since the baby. It's from my shoulder to my elbow in both arms. The pain is so unbearable that I can't raise my arms to brush my teeth or take a drink. Forget about getting dressed or washing your hair!
My doctor diagnosed me with it (wonder if it wasn't just RA) and I was given pain killers, muscle relaxers and wrist splints. How that helped the pain higher up, I dunno. Sounds silly now that I reread that.
