Update on Marisa's surgery.

Hi,
A little note to let you all know how Marisa is doing after her hip surgery.

Marisa's surgery went very well. They where able to repair that area of hip that was giving her such a horrible time. She sounded very upbeat and cheerful when we where chatting. There is no information as to what her walking ability will be at this time as they have not as of yet gotten her up and moving with her walker. I will be calling her later this afternoon and as soon as she tells me how her first walk after surgery went and what the doctors said about her surgery out come, I will come back and let you all know how she is progressing. Please keep those prayers going, that Marisa's surgery went better than expected and that Marisa will be able to enjoy pain free walking once again.

Marisa also wanted to let you all know how much she appreciated everyone's support, kind thoughts and prayers for her health and to sends you all a special "THANK YOU" and a big

That's good to hear. Let her know I'm thinking about her and praying for a Speedy Recovery!Wonderful - So Wonderful.  Will continue to keep her in my prayers asking there be no complications in her recovery.  Hope she can feel my "Gentlest of Hugs." Glad that all has gone well, Please carry on sending her our thoughts and prayers.I'm real glad she is doing so well !!

Hope everyone is having a nice evening.

I just got off the phone with Marisa and she is doing well and they did get her up to walk twice today.  She moved 2 steps up and  2 steps back twice and the second time she said it didn't hurt as bad as the first attempt.

Maris also said that she will be going into rehab after she leaves the hospital.  Personally I was very relieved to hear that she will going there than straight home.  She needs some time to recuperate from the surgery, especially while she is going through physical theraphy and needs to be watched over so nothing happens to her.

When I was talking on the phone with Marisa I brought up AI's web page on the computer and I read her all the wonderful thoughts and good vibes you all sent her.   She was laughing  and saying AWW.  It was good to hear her smiling.  I do believe that helped her more than her morphine drip.

I will be back in a few days and let you know how she is progressing.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

helped more than the morphine drip!!!! SWEET!! LOL

Glad to hear she was up and moving, and FREAKIN YAY on the rehab!! That'll be SOOO good for her! They can yell at her to take it easy when she tries to DUST EVERYTHING!!

Much Hugs!
Hi to all,

I have another update on how Marisa is doing.

I had a nice chat with Marisa today...she is doing much better and is getting around much better also. Still hurts but she is able to go further in her walker each time they get her up to walk.

Got her laughing to where she told me to stop making her laugh because it was making her hurt...Boy did I feel bad

They took her off the morphine and put her on Percocet so she is sounding more coherent..  They are not sure if she will be transfered to rehab to tomorrow, as her hemoglobin is down and she has some bleeding in the area where the surgery took place.

I will be calling her tomorrow.  Then I will come back and fill you all in as to how she is doing and when they may be transferring her to rehab.

I have to say it is very nice of all of you to take the time to let her know that you are thinking of her and wishing her a speedy recovery.  I am sure it means very much to her to know that you all are thinking of her .  I know it did when I was in for my surgery this past July.

Take care everyone.  Hope you all had a good weekend
That's awesome news! :) I really can't wait till she's home again!! I can just imagnie how perky she'll be. She's been needing this for *SO* long!

Again, tell her we miss her!
What a great friend Marisa has in you Waddles . Some of the best medicine is laughter .
So I guess you are also part of Marisa's recovery .
The best to her .
I just talked with Marisa and she is doing fantastic.  She said the therapist can't believe that she is walking as well as she is and is walking up and down the stairs to boot...I was bowled over when she told me she was going up and down the stairs...Can you believe that?  WOW, what they can do today is just amazing.

I asked her how much pain she is still in and she said not real pain mostly discomfort but not all the time.  Her leg on the side where the hip was replaced is still swollen.  She is a little bit apprehensive about them taking out the staples, all 39 of them.  I told her she needed to tell them, before she lets them take the staples out, she needs a REALLY potent pain killer or a Valium cocktail.  She said OR a drink.  If it was me having staples removed,  I would have to have all 3 of them.

When they where working on her hip, they managed to get her leg to finally become even with the other one.  That will be a real blessing for her.  Now that her two legs are about the same length, it should take some of the strain off her hip and knee.

Marisa really did sound good, like a person who is well enough to go home, which she definitely is ready to do.  She misses her babies and her friends at AI and of course at LTA too. We all know when it comes to getting better after having any surgery, there is really nothing as comfortable and assuring as home and thats what she needs right now in order to get on with her recovery.  Maybe very soon.

She sends her love to you all and that she thinks about everyone everyday and as soon as she can, she will be back on the board to chat with you all herself.

This will be my last update on Marisa as I do believe they will be releasing her in the next few days,  I have my fingers crossed that they will.

Take care of yourselves and I hope every one had a nice week end.
Way to go Marisa!  Praying for a speedy recovery and no pain. Prayers and love!!!! Get well soon!!!! Glad things are going well!!!
