I have read that its not clear what causes RA...however i wonder if maybe i could have brought it on by taking too many antibiotics ? I as a child and even now have had BAD allergies and did take 3 injections a week for them. The dr. said i would get sick easy because of the allergies like ear, throat, and sinuse infections in which i had to take ALOT of antibiotics for.I cant help but to wonder if taking them some how messed with my immune system and allowed RA to set in !
~Cindy I think anything that messes with the immune system can throw it out of whack. My theory. Stress is a big factor and hormones. Geoff, I have wanted to try that antibiotic treatment. It makes sense to me but since my rd thinks I need to stop the ra asap because it is being "aggressive", I am afraid not to go with the tried and true biologics. Cindy, don't stress over how it happened, we all wonder that, just worry about taking care of yourself. Well, I can tell you that before I was dx'ed, I seldom took
antibiotics...my son has taken maybe 4 courses in a little over 3 years
and that is low doses...my mother almost never takes
antibiotics...yet mom and I both definitely have RA and Bastian seems
to be showing signs of something that flares and receedes. Don't
stress over the why. Just treat it and find ways to keep yourself
as normal as you can even when your body is rebelling.
