I have so much pain in my neck today.  it started yesterday and wasn't too bad, but today it's horribly painful.  I have never had pain in my neck before.  Is that part of the RA?  anybody have neck pain and if so how do you get rid of it??

Linda

The graphic should have written under it RA!

Linda, I get some neck pain. Usually it seems to be the "boniest" neck bone that bothers me. I have found that Ultram (tramadol) works remarkably well on that particular pain. Ibuprofin and vicodin don't work for it at all. Don't know why the Ultram does.

Mike

Tramadols been helping my recent neck pain too Mike.

Yep; I get it too Linda. Had a pretty hard time with it lately. It's horrible considering everytime you move it hurts. You end up looking like an idiot the way you have to hold your head to keep the pain to a minimum.

Heat feels good too. Someone suggested in that thread Roxy spoke of to roll up a towel and use that. I tried it one night after reading that. I was folding a load of towels and I took a warm towel and rolled it up and put it around my neck; almost like a neck brace. It actually made it more comfortable to lean back and rest....I've been using that trick ever since. It's a good one. I THINK we have Brenda to thank for that little tip.

Good Luck to you...Lord knows I know what a "Pain in the Neck" that can be

I like to lay down with ice on my neck when I am in pain. I had painted a ceiling the other day and my neck and shoulders hurt so much so I used the ice. Now sometimes the heat feels better. It is just a matter of preference.

Hope this helps

Yes, the advice about a warm towel is good advice!  The only way I used to be able to sleep was on my back, with rolled up towels placed under my kneck and knees.  I also would put hot water bottles around me.

I am so glad that those days have passed for me.  My meds are working!

I hope you get some relief.  I know what you are going through and will be thinking of you!

RLS2~I'm like that with ice too on most places...especially my breast bones when they hurt. Actually I use those cold packs that come with my Humira. I keep those in the refridgerator not the freezer for when I need them. I can't really stand the FROZEN cold; but the fridg cold really does feel best for most places.

thanks for all the suggestions.  I am taking the tramadol right now.  I will try the other suggestions when I get home.  I am so glad this is a long weekend.  You guys are life savers, I am so glad I found you.

thanks, Hope everyone has a pain free day.

Linda
