Dropping Blue Shield | Arthritis Information

After all of this, I think I am dropping my insurance today.  I was on the phone with Curescript yesterday afternoon.  They told me I would have to pay 0 a month with my Blue Shield but if my husband's insurance were my primary carrier, I would pay much less.  I thought Blue Shield was such great insurance.  BS.  After fighting them all summer, they win.  They will not have to pay as I am dropping them and back to setting up my Enbrel with United Health Care.  This is exhausting

Mike

I definitely have nothing good to say about Blue Shield.  They fought me the entire summer.  Now I have to set up my Enbrel with an entirely different pharmacy (pharmacare) and get it pre-authorized by United Health Care.  I was supposed to start next Wed.

I'm not sure what all you've been through Roxy, but I wanted to defend them just a little. My medical bills have been extrememly high and rarely if ever have a I paid a dime out of pocket except for co-pays. Even with minor surgurical proceedures.

And Humira was approved and delivered to me in less than a week at my doctors request.

Lovie,  I have the preferred patient plan.  Supposedly the best plan they have to offer.  After fighting them all summer, they want me to pay 0 a month for Enbrel co-pay.  Nope, nothing good to say about Blue Shield.  I ONLY WISH I had your experience

Yeah; that's definately different than mine. I pay for a 4 week supply of Humira. That's close to 00 worth of medication.

None of my medication would be over which is the highest tear on my prescription drug coverage.

We have United Healthcare and I'm worried to death when I have to get my script filled. I've called them twice and they say it's covered on my plan..so I'm glad to see you all w/United are getting it approved.

I've had 2 surgeries on United Healthcare and the only bill I saw was for the same day surgical center..it was for 0 deductible for surgery..so I can't complain too much.....I hope.

Hey Loive my insurnace does the same as yours the nothing over the for prescriptions

My Blue Shield charges 0 per injectable delivery.  They will not delivery more than a 2 week supply.  I sure hope to hear from rd soon.  I have a HUGE headache today.  I think it is all the stress from waiting by the phone all week.  I am afraid to go anywhere.  I don't want to miss that call, they need more information or whatever.  My rd office says United Healthcare was "rude".  I have to just tell myself that that was their rep. not the company

Mike

That is WONDERFUL NEWS Mike.  I will be calling my rd again soon.  Thanks.

Rox

Roxy that's too bad about BCBS. I had them years ago and thought they were very good but that was before enbrel.

I started a new job and have United Health Care. I have never heard of them before this. I haven't needed to fill my enbrel order just yet. I'm glad some of you have had postive things to say about them. I'm glad to be rid of Cigna.

Roxy keep us posted.

ive dealt with curescript also we have first priority blue cross/blue shield nd my co pay was for enbrel and for humira, i love all theses ins companies that just put prices on everything,.  the sad thing i was allergic to both so i was only able to use one shot of each the rest had to be thrown away.  they cant even take it back. so needless to say i flushed 0 down the toilet. good luck with your co pays especially like me not working. nd only one salary coming in.

Almost all insurance plans have a protocol for the biologics, because they are so expensive. You have to try and fail on the cheaper stuff first

Find out what hoops the BCBS folks want you to jump through....You may only be one hoop away.

Do not give up!

Well Marian.  Too late, I dropped Blue Shield so United Health could be my primary.  I sure hope I don't regret it.  I was almost in tears today realizing that I am almost starting over again.  It is just 0 a month is too much of a burden.  We are supporting two households because we work in two different towns.  I know - it could be worse.  Sorry.  Patience. hi roxy~ sorry to hear about your insurance problems. i've had my share of "heated conversations" with the insurance companies too. sometimes they make it feel like your benefits are coming right out of the pocket of the person who's on the other end of the phone.
don't know if this will help but when i first started on enbrel, my rheumy gave me the phone # for enliven services. 1-888-4enbrel or you can find help at enbrel.com they helped me get my pre-authorization in no time at all. something i didn't have any success with in weeks. my insurance carrier (i believe was bc/bs at the time) told me no way they would cover it. after enliven services got done with them, i paid 20 bucks for a months supply. good luck. Wow  Thanks Aunt Lisa.  I will give it a try tomorrow and let you know how it goes.
