Getting off pred and boy am i feeling it.

When i try to stand, my body says no.  Now the pain is ok to take, but i can't walk, i need a wrist brace to do anything etc.

Well, i can walk, but i have to move my legs a lot to basicly oil them up for walking.  I hope this is just a really bad flair for getting off the meds that will go away.
Hey bubbagump, the same thing happens to me everytime I try to lower my pred, so up until so far I haven't been able, any less than 8 -10mg and I am in big trouble.  I truly hope it works for you, it has to be a terribly slow process for it to work.  Regards Janie. Bubba - after my initial five months of Predisone, my ex-rheumy put me through a hard weanoff.  It was hell, and I know now about drug withdrawal and have some pity (some) for heroin addicts.  But, I lived through it and when I think back, at least it was quick.  A slower weanoff would have been too much for too long.  But I will never take it again because of that weanoff and I realized how potent a poison it is.  Good luck ~~Cathy

Sorry to hear it, bubbagump. I know what you are going thru. My ex-RD he had me do a really fast wean off when I went back to him. He put me on a blister pack of pred and then told me not to take the 5mg of pred anymore because I had inflammation in my muscles at the time I went to see him. He said 5mg was doing nothing for me.

I lasted maybe 2 months off of it and then I had to go back on it, because my body would not cooperate. So he put me back on at 15mg.

Weaning of pred is some bad stuff, especially if your RA is not controlled.

Much hugs and I hope the weaning process gets a little better for you.
This is my first time on prednisone and I am being weaned off.

I was on 40 and I am down to 20 and beginning to have pain. Next week instead of dropping 5 I will be dropping 2.5 weekly until I get to 15 and the dr. will give further instructions.

My question is- does your body adjust and therefore the pain goes away? Or can I expect to feel worse and worse?
