Prednisone question | Arthritis Information

I was started on 20mg of Pred for a very bad flare and after 3 days I am still miserable

I called the doc today who increased it to 35mg and then a slow taper. This doesnt seem to be that large of a dose.

If after another 3 days at that dose then what?

I am awaiting insurance approval to go back on Remicade.

I take synthroid, januvia, clonidine, HCTZ and aleve alotttt. So far this is the worst I have been in 2 yrs. My fingers look like sausages and pretty much every joint hurts.

This is a new rheumy I am going to and he seems very conservative....not that that is a bad thing but I have been in this much pain now for a month. Darvon is the only other thing that he gave me to try but it didnt seem to help at all.....

I would call and let him know that the 35mg and Darvon isn't cutting it. He can give you a higher dose, or even have you come in for a shot of prednisone and can definitely give you something stronger for the pain. How much longer do you think it will take for the insurance approval on the remicade?
