Still laughing!!! | Arthritis Information

What else can you do but laugh? I have a delima. My ankles and knees are toast and my wrist elbows and shoulders are pretty well the same. It makes for slow moving. Wheel chairs sort of require arm movement so i don't think i will go there. Anyway i need one of those chairs that pushes you up out of it. As i try to push myself up to stand and well the arms are in no shape for this job. Bob says do you need a boost. Because i am sort of rocking my way up off the sofa trying to get up without using my arms. I said what you going do Bob do you have a crane handy? He said he was thinking more along the lines of renting a fork lift. The walker is out no arms. I guess crutches if i can get up to them. I will get a little red wagon and have people pull me around. LOL

I do not have hand strength and a bad right wrist, so I am kinda screwed in using my arms to help me get up. Plus, my knees are shot, so I do not have much strength in them either. But I can rock myself off the couch, if the couch I am sitting on is not low to the ground.

Most times I just wait for hubby to help me off the couch or I just sit there until someone decides to help me up.

That is why I sit one of 2 places at home... my bed or in the computer chair. The computer chair I can raise high enough that I can slide out of it, and my bed it is high enough off the floor that I just have to slide out of it too. Now laying in the bed when shoulders and elbows are swelled and getting out of it is a whole nother story.

It is called adapting... which I modify it to some way I can do it, wait for help, or just not do it at all.

I got a really funny one for you! FIL has a Silverado Crew Cab truck. Well... it is pretty high off the ground and I can't get into it by myself. MIL bought a folding step stool to keep in the truck for me so I do not have to depend on someone to "boost" me into the truck... kinda embarrassing while in public... someone pushing you up into a truck by your ass. Not a pretty picture

Anyways... Some time last week... we went somewhere with FIL in his truck and well... the step stool got took out, so hubby had to pick me up and push me into the truck.

Yeah... but I do not need help getting outta the truck, because I just slide down very slow until I hit the ground.
Milly, have you seen that show on TLC about Little People, Big World. That father, Matt has one of those little chairs he scoots around on. It is so small, they just fold it up and it fits in the trunk and can get around most homes. You should check it out. I bet insurance would pay for it too. Look into it. I think one of those electric chairs are a good idea too.
