No longer freaking... I just had a moment | Arthritis Information

So... I went to find out just how RD's find out a joint is swollen if the swelling is not visible. Well... I googled and then the 5th result was Joint Injection and Aspiration. Now I am just feel sick to my stomach and freaked out a little, because I just read the whole article and everything. And I was not even worrying about my knee needing to be aspirated in the coming week. And this patient education article freaked me out.

Why is everytime I have something I am trying not to worry about, ALWAYS shows up some where... TV, someone else talking about it, internet, ect.
joonie2008-03-03 22:53:09Settle down, pet the kitty.....just focus on the relieve you will have after wards and I'm sure they will give you something to numb the pain before. Sometimes the internet is not the best place to go for info because you end up finding the worse case scenario.
You'll be fine, Joonie.
take care

Quote: be like attracts like and you ARE totally focused on your illness.. and maybe you like worrying? i don't know..

try to find other things, you like to do..

I'm focused on mine , in a way, like most of us, but... i don't think about the future, i deal w/ just today and getting thru it...and i don't worry about what i don't have or might get..
shrug.. it helps..

Knit, have sex, chill w/ the kids, whatever..
find something fun to focus on..
I cannot pet my kitty she bites me. She hates for me to pet her. She is laying on my desk right now. Did I ever mention, animals do not like me for some reason?

Well... I did find out how they do assesment for not so grossly amount of swelling like I have, the not so visible swelling, but not for how an RD knows when there is swelling in a wrist that is not so visible.

No, I was looking for how they tell swelling in a wrist for cah1418. I was thinking it was kinda like how old RD would press down on my kneecap to tell I had swelling when I did not know I had swelling. And well that was part of the article, how the aspirate joints.
they're a good test of character..
When I swell, I have veins that are more prominent. Do you have that? Especially on hands and wrists. I also feel swollen on the inside, it's weird, and I can't explain but I feel puffy and swollen.
I wish they could aspirate my whole body and suck out all the excess weight I haved gained. Oh yea, that would be great!
Well... I am over it now. Thanks, Cindee for your replies to me.

I had to listen to my mom try to talk me into getting it aspirated yesterday. She got to see my knee and she said looks like it is going to be aspirated when you go back. I was not even talking about my knee to her she had to look at it.

Oh well... I am not so freaked now... I am over it... for now. I am really looking forward to my Remicade infusion on the 10th.

I guess it is just lack of sleep, and feeling so darn tired. My mind is not functioning properly.
No problem, good luck on your Remicade infusion on the 10th.
Joonie, why are you getting yourself in a tizz here darl? Okay, swelling, my RD tells by feeling my joints, that's what he is trained to do. I can't always see it as all of me tends to swell but he knows. What about this joint aspiration? Do you have to have one on your knee or something? Like pre Rituxan I had 42 swollen joints...he knew that, that's his job to tell if they are swollen. After Rituxan, I had four swollen joints.  cah1841 mentioned she did not know why her RD said her wrist was swelled when she did not think it was, and I asked her if he squeezed it and she said yes. I just thought there might have been a name for how he knew she had swelling in her wrist when she did not think she had any. It was kinda like back in 2001 my RD kept telling me I had swelling in my knees, but I never seen any of it, I just did not know how she knew I had it. But then I remembered she use to push my knee cap forward and if it moved I had swelling. I just figured there might have been some bone cah1481's RD was squeezing on her wrist that let him know it was swelled, without it being visible to her.

It was just something that intrested me, and I wanted to see if I could find out more, that was all.

Yes, I am probably going to have to have my right knee aspirated on the 10th. It is swelled once again and I am on 25mg of pred now and it has started to swell once again. It started early Sunday morning around 1am and since dropping down to 25mg of pred.

I am fine now do not worry about me. I just need some good wholesome sleep.
Sounds like you need some good wholesome sleep too.  I am glad you have stopped freaking.

Knee aspiration doesn't sound like fun but being in pain all the time isn't and if it will help then, I would go for it. Yeah, rheumy's tell by feeling your joints...they have had many years training to do this. Lol.

Get some sleep, darling woman.

_popupControl(); I am still awake, cannot sleep, we are having bad storms again and well... I did not take the Rozerem like I decided. I just do not want to be asleep if a Tornado comes thru, or a tree falls through the roof of my bedroom.

Good thing of it all... daughter's school is delayed for 2 hours. So... I might get some sleep around 10am.

The storms are suppose to be done with us around 5am. So maybe after hubby leaves for work I can get some sleep then.
