I was diagnosed about a moth ago. I am taking pacquinil and predisone. I discovered a dime size sore on the underside of my tongue. Is this common? What is the best way to handle this? Thanks for any help.

Lorrie
Dime size is pretty big when you're talking about a sore under your tounge. You might want to call your doctor about that one. I don't know. I have a lot of trouble with mouth sores....but never that size.

Welcome to AI. Hope to see more of you here.
Yeah I agree with Lovie...let your doctor know about this
Welcome, Lorrie!
Lorried - I had/have huge sores like that in my mouth for years, showed them to multiple doctors who shrugged their shoulders, not one doctor thought it meant anything.  Horribly painful, especially the ones in the back of my mouth near a molar, and the tooth would cut into the sore - double bad, and no pain medicine, even a topical.  I found cutting off a leaf from my aloe plant and rubbing the gunky stuff straight on to the sore numbs it for a bit.

My new, wonderful, woman family practitioner recently cultured the first one I showed her, and it is herpes simplex 1 for mouth canker sores.  So, when you go to your doctor, if they don't mention having it cultured, make them do it.  It's a cotton swab for 2 seconds and they have the results in 24 hours.  Good luck CathyAK
I agree, you might get them looked at.  I haven't ever had mouth sores, except with MTX pills.  Sounds painful!

Always get things that are odd for you looked at the first time they arrive.

Because of RA, when my body is unhappy i get mouth soars like crazy.  Sometimes 3 or more at a time.
Thanks all. That des help. The odd thing is it's almost gone today. just a slight darken area and no pain. I think my body is playing games with me.
