OT - JSNM Earthquake | Arthritis Information

Hey! My mom ordered a copy of that book for my grandparents. She said she found a few on e-bay that were like and up. They are the signed ones!! I can't remember, did you get to sign any of the books? Or no?

She says thanks very much for the info. Grandma and grandpa are always interested in stuff like that. I'll get to read it the next time I visit!

Mom says Grandpa worked at the airport's gas station. I didn't know that! She said they ended up moving back to WI that June. Grandma was terrified of all the aftershocks. She was a young mother with 3 little kids and she just couldn't take it. She lived on edge.

So this explains why my grandmother has earthquake insurance in Wisconsin. :) I always wondered about that one! Yes ma'am it is :)

Yeah JSNM, you could be making a fortune right now! LOL

And yes, she has had earthquake insurance for as long as I can remember. It's always been a giggle around the family, but now I know why. Poor thing musta been scared to death with all three of the girls home alone all the time.
That's what my dad said, that the trees were bending over and touching the ground, of course my mom and all us kids were standing in the kitchen holding all the cupboard doors shut at the time, don't remember much, except we got a whole week off from school, we were thrilled.Where were you?  I was in Anchorage and we were lucky we weren't killed where we rode it out at, not fun.  The week off of school was great, but those durn lines for those horrible diptheria or thyphus or whatever they did cuz the water systems were demolished were awful.  And you had to have THREE of those suckers.  My arm was swollen for weeks.  It was kind of interesting to listen to emergency broadcasting huddled around a wood stove in March in Alaska.  :)  Upper Fire Lake. My mom was pissed because there wasn't any electricty to dry all the wet clothes when we came back inside from playing outside all day, but she didn't want us in the house driving her crazy either. I remember the snow was really wet, way too wet to be outside all day. You weren't the Homer canidate who wrote she was a member of the Johnny X15 Club are you?Ninilchicken2008-03-04 19:56:03Hangs head in political shame of using a claymation cartoon for political gain.  I forgot you told me Upper Fire Lake.  And for the record, it was Fireball XL5 - he had just taken off in his space ship ...

PS How about that Jim Clark - shakes head.  I am glad I got out of politics, Juneau is a cesspool.
justsaynoemore2008-03-04 19:57:21Are you really the one who put that in the borough booklet before the election, I thought it was someone else, or were there a couple of women politicians from Homer who used that. DH wants to know what your last name was at the time.

Yes, that was me.  LOL  It was Godfrey, I was on the Homer City Council, then beat the D heir apparent Dan Winn (a very nice man) in the primary for State House.  I was up 7 points over Gail going in and she got scared I came on so strong at the end, but lost by 2 - it was 1994, the Republic Revolution killed me off and I retired.  Now I build natural gas pipelines :)  Scott is my brother.

They weren't clamation they were puppets on strings, the strings were really REALLY obvious. Jim's on the TV right now, what a schmuck, I just want it to take ole Frank down too. Did you read the Alaska magazine about Palin. One of the democrats they interviewed said she'd be surprised at the level of corruption and behind door, old boy dealings that go on down there. Oil companies and the states they own.

Dittman just said Mirkowski is too tight with his money to not know who paid for the poll.

Don't tell me you lost by 2 votes, because when I read what club you were a member of I didn't vote for you, it was just too corny. Ninilchicken2008-03-04 20:17:43Deidre - my first lobbying trip to Juneau was shocking.  And that was in 1994.  It took this long to catch them.  And my frank analysis was acute alcoholism.

I didn't see the AK Magazine on Governor Palin, but she is really something.  Re the pipeline, look for something big coming (maybe tomorrow) out of the Legislature re the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority.  My last gift to Alaska.
