My hair: before and after! | Arthritis Information

Alright, scroll down for my before-and-after pics...not great ones but the best I could do (and the after pics are done with the self-timer).  The lighting, flash and background make a big difference in the pics (the color in the after pics looks more like the real thing), but you will get the idea.  I actually thought she was going to cut more off the back, but it may just look longer because it's straight now.  I'm going for another cut in 6 weeks to see how the texture is doing and whether I can get a perm.  My hairdresser agreed that my hair was all feathery and the texture was drastically different than before.

She said all the curl was cut out so I had to go straight, but tomorrow I'll see for myself.  Straight isn't easy for me since I've given up using a hairdryer and any other implements (like the flat iron my hairdresser used).  I'm more of a "wash, gel, scrunch, and done" person now.

I'm not as upset at cutting it as I thought I would be (at least not yet), plus it looks longer than I planned, but I am upset that the texture is so bad....maybe worse than I thought.  Anyway, it should be much easier to care for now.

Well, I hope you can get your perm in 6 weeks.

But I must say... your hair is pretty being straight.

If I could get the hairdresser to come to my house every day to blow dry it and flat iron it for free, straight would be no problem! You could try a wet to dry flat iron. If you turn the heat on it all the way up, you hardly have to grip it and it straightens.

That's what I do! LOL

So, you prefer it more curly like before?  Right?

My hair looks just like your "before" pictures.  When my hair is wet, I spray it with this stuff called Dream Curls and then scrunch it every so slightly and it gets even curlier.  Maybe you could try that to get some of the curl back instead of messing with blow drying it.

But, for the record, Innerglow.  I really like the new "do"!
I think your hair looks great .
It looks really thick and full .

Looks great!!  I still have to get motivated to fix mine. I am just sitting around moaning about it at least you did something. Good for you.Planning on getting mine cut, but if it looked as good as yours, I wouldn't bother.  Congrats, it looks great.  Janie. Looks great, Suzanne!

I believe John Freida has some kind of conditioner like that avaible. Might want to google the site, they have all their products listed online and even an evaluation thing to fill out to see what might be good for your hair. That is how I came up with the conditioner masque for the hair.

Aww I think it's pretty!! You really could try a wet to dry flat iron. I don't even have to close mine all the way to straighten my hair. I just crank the heat up on it instead. It gets close and touches and does the job. If I had to squeeze it it'd kill my knuckles!
Hey, Suzanne, the hair is just lovely. We just have to cut our hair at times being on these awful meds as they really do some damage. You look fabulous, woman.  your hair is almost exactly like mine, cut and color lol.

I also have naturally curly hair but try to get it cut in layers (kept long) so i can control it from being too frizzy.

Looks good congrats :)
Suzanne, I love the new you.  I have a wet/dry straight iron and love it.  Katie is right...you do not have to grip it hardly at all.

I agree with Joonie...the before seemed to weigh you down more(looked like all hair, and no Suzanne).  Now we can see you!!!  You are beautiful!
Inner Glow,
I think your hair looks GREAT straight!!!   It looks so pretty! I know its a pain to blow dry and then use a iron to straighten (I do it too), but it does look good.    What we do for beauty.

I LIKEY!!!  It's a very flattering cut for your and I love the color of your hair too.  So rich with that touch of red.  I understand that you're not totally satisfied, it's the way women are wired.  We just can't help it.   But just so you know, it really does look great and I wouldn't change a thing.

I LOVE it!!  You'll figure out how to do it the way you want to, everybody always does.  It'll probably be even cuter when you do it yourself.

So this wet/dry flat iron....is it different than a regular flat iron?  On the way home yesterday I stopped by the store and looked at the big ol' wall of flat-irons ranging from to 9

I wanted to make sure I could get one that would be lightweight, and not get too hot as I am very, very sensitive to heat.  I could barely keep from squirming when the hairdresser kept putting her iron near my head.  (Could that be because she accidentally touched a burning curling iron to my forehead on my wedding day?  That turned out alright...)

So is the wet/dry one different?  If so, what's different about it?
it looks very nice!Personally.........I don't think there's a difference. But I got one anyway. LOL

I got mine at Target, it's a conair and it was only . It's all black, and has heat settings up to 25. (which is REALLY fricking hot, btw) It also has a "turbo" button. I have yet to use that, so don't ask me wth it's for.....LOL

I keep mine on about 15 and it's hot enough to cook on, I swear! I only grip it as hard as I have to, which really isn't that hard.

Since your hair IS longer than mine, you wanna get a flat iron with a WIDE head. It'll save you time and energy. I have a skinny head one, cause my hair doesn't even touch my shoulders. A wide one would be too big for me.

Oh, and I don't feel the heat from mine because the back side of the heat panels is lined with some kind of foam. I could lick the back side of the heat pannels, it's ice cold. It's the neatest thing! Even the big expensive one the hair dresser used on me was very hot to the touch. Not mine! :)
Innerglow, you are a beautiful woman and your hair is gorgeous. Sometimes just ridding yourself of some of the damage will really shape it up. I'm jealous as mine is so think and straight. I like both ways!  But I'm like lorster, poker straight.  I tried all through the 70's/80's to get some curls! Wow it looks great.  You actually look younger.  Not that you looked old because you didn't.  but you do look younger.  Go you!!OK, today after pool therapy I did it without the straightening and it came out wavy, which I think I like better:
Oh I like the wavey........and you can get products that keep it like that! PRETTY! That's so pretty.  I wish I had the option of curly wavy or straight.  I only get to choose between straight.
