I'm home and it feels so good!!!! Shocked the rehab people with how well I was walking on post-op day 4. Only stayed there one week! Couldn't get them to realize how much pain I had pre-op and how much better I felt post-op. Still have the 39 staples in me and they're coming out on Friday. Have to watch what I do as I can't twist the leg when walking. When sitting the knee must be lower than the hip. Yes, I'm on my walker and my engery level is low. I'm not pushing myself to do things and I'm being careful!!!

One last thing, THANKS for all of your support, prayers, and positive thoughts.

Schell, Marisa had a hip replacement several weeks ago.
Glad you are home. Get well soon. great job...keep going.  I don't know that people realize how painful our bodies are on a regular basis.  Marisa I am so pleased it went well and that you feel better. Take it easy, glad to see you on here again. xMarisa,
Glad your back and feeling good!!

a fellow joint replacee!!
To the newbies, I had a total hip replacement on Feb. 21st and was up walking on it the next day. It was only a couple of steps but I walked. Now, a week and a half later, I'm going up stairs and getting out for a little bit. The pain is nothing like before and it's different now.
I hope that all of my AI friends are doing okay. Will try to check in every day but can't promise as my engery level is low.

Take care,

marisa
STAIRS?!?!!

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!! *hugs*
yipeee, there's no place like home! glad it went well and you are on your way - best wishes!!!

make sure you don't over-do I'm not over doing it but yesterday was very tiring. Got my staples out and I had to talk several yards to the office as all of the parking spaces in the front lot were taken. Had to park in the parking structure. By the time, I got to the office I was done in. They put me in a wheelchair and wheeled me around. My new hip looks good on the x-ray and is feeling better every day. The doc told me that the hip joint was totally gone!! Even the astabular cup was destroy.
I'm doing little things like my dishes and a little dusting but mostly resting in my easy chair.  I wish that I had the surgery done a long time before.

Another thing is that I'm learning to do things differently. Can't bend down from the waist, use a reacher to pick things up from the floor. Leg so swollen, find pants that have velcro closing on the leg so you can adjust the fit, etc.

Again thanks for the support and to the newbies, this RA can change your life but if you keep a positive outlook and search for another way of doing things, you can manage. There will be slips and doubt but with help from your fellow RA'ers you will be okay. Remember that we're in this together!!

You sound so up Marisa! :) I love it! Continue to take it easy hun!! *hugs* You're doing great and it makes me smile to read your good reports.  Way to go!!Hi Marisa, I'm so happy that you're doing as well as you are...it's great news.  I knew that you'd have less pain after surgery than before.  That's how I was with my knee replacement.  Surgical replacement for you must have been amazing considering the condition of the hip.  You'll be unstoppable now.  Lindy
