Can you feel inflammation in your knuckles?

It comes and goes, the mtx seems to help.Do your knuckles feel enlarged?

To tell you the truth, your fingers and knuckles look like my mom's fingers & knuckles. She has OA in her hands.
yes the the knuckles are enlarged, and are sore if you were to press on. don't have any problem with the end knuckle, are her fingers stiff all day? I can't make a tight fist with these 2 fingers. the ortho Dr that I first saw didn't think it was Ra but sent me to RD who did all the blood work. RF positive. hope he knows what going on!thanks for replying.See my knuckles look swelled, but are not, they are just enlarged from where my bones are dislocating, I think that is what is is called.

My mom gets trigger fingers. Where her fingers will not straighten and stuck in a trigger position. Celebrex helped her greatly with that and the problems she was having with waking up with her fingers having stiffness.

Tell your RD of your thoughts about your hands and see what he has to say.

Janlee - thanks for posting your hand pix.  This has all become very fascinating to me, as I have had one thumb trigger, but had a shot of cortizone in it, and it finally unlocked.  This was pre-diagnosis too.  A hand doctor, amazing.  A few of my knuckles are swollen, but when the doctors push on them, there is no pain.  I will never figure this all out.  Hang in there.  Cathy

Hi Janlee - My Middle fingers are doing the same as yours. They both turn outwards, towards the pickie finger. They are both twisting from the middle knuckle. Also the tip of the right middle finger is curling upwards. It looks like the end knuckle has sunk. I do get swelling sometimes but often there is pain without swelling. I also get alot of pain and stiffness in the small joints in the hands, the thumbs and wrists.
I was diagnosed with Palindromic Rheumatism 7 years ago and was re-diagnosed with sero-negative RA last December. Currently taking Plaquenil and have had bone x-rays done 3 weeks ago but no changes in finger joints.
