I HAVE REGISTERED FOR FOOD, CLOTHING, CHILD CARE, PET CARE, TWO BEDROOMS IN MY OWN HOUSE. THESE PEOPLE NEED PHONE CARDS, GAS CARDS, BABYSITTING, JOBS, TEMP. HOUSING, PRAYER. the street is headed to Sheila, you should be soooo proud to be from the state of Texas, I saw today where your great state has taken in 75,000 refugees and I'm sure that number is larger as we speak. And to give of your own home. I'm more than happy to do what I can....I gave to the Red Cross today and plan to send more as more funds are available. I'm starting a "Hurricaine Aid" drive in our school.....Canned food, water, diapers, soap, etc." Please let me know the items in most need right now...I know needs will change with time.....but they have to begin to feel human again....I don't know what the break down was with our government, why these trucks and buses weren't there yesterday, but right now that is beside the point,,,,,we willl deal with them later. I am here in Houston, and I actually live about 2 miles from the Asrtodome. I am planning on going to a training session so I can go into the Astrodome and give out meals. My best buddy is a doctor and she says the whole Houston medical is on overwhelm trying to give care to all these people. Not to mention the kids, some of whom are now orphans. It is just awful! I know we can give them food and shelter and even a shoulder to cry on, but I just hurt inside for these people. I can not imagine the fear and grief. Lets all say a prayer tonight for our fellow citizens. Robin My head is bowed Mom, I am just heartsick. Our investment club was planning on going to New Orleans in October.,...i told them we should still go and help. Think we are going to do it....Sent money to Red Cross today still feel so bad.
