I've given to the Red Cross and will continue to do so; but I'd like to do more. I'll look at the site.

Thanks Karen. Bless you for your efforts.

Bless you Karen for taking action!  Other than $ donations how can Virginians help?

I have also given to the Red Cross, but would like to do more.  From what I hear though, all they want is money, no durable goods.

Let us not forget our four-legged friends as well.

Ditto to Red Cross.  Will look at website.  Employer is also doing something....Schwtz,  I am so glad you posted that.  I heard about a little boy that was so upset leaving his dog behind when being rescued.  I can totally relate.  I would not leave my dogs.  They are my babies.  Some people just don't understand.    The Red Cross and the Salvation Army are my favorite organizations.  I trust them both and know of personal stories of folks they have helped.  Great organizations to support.

I'm looking forward to the NBC mini telethon tonight. David and I are going to send a cash donation to the Red Cross. Our neighbor across the street is headed to Houston tomorrow with whatever she can solicit from the 'hood. She has family from NO staying with other family in Houston; they've lost all but the clothes on their back. We have been emailed a list of needs that we can help fulfill.

Peace and love to all.

Sheila,

you should be soooo proud to be from the state of Texas, I saw today where your great state has taken in 75,000 refugees and I'm sure that number is larger as we speak.  And to give of your own home.  I'm more than happy to do what I can....I gave to the Red Cross today and plan to send more as more funds are available.  I'm starting a "Hurricaine Aid" drive in our school.....Canned food, water, diapers, soap, etc."  Please let me know the items in most need right now...I know needs will change with time.....but they have to begin to feel human again....I don't know what the break down was with our government, why these trucks and buses weren't there yesterday, but right now that is beside the point,,,,,we willl deal with them later.  The priority is our people.. you are there you are seeing it, tell us what you need.

Lots of love,

KAT

Yep, Texas rocks!!!!!!

I am here in Houston, and I actually live about 2 miles from the Asrtodome.  I am planning on going to a training session so I can go into the Astrodome and give out meals.  My best buddy is a doctor and she says the whole Houston medical is on overwhelm trying to give care to all these people.  Not to mention the kids, some of whom are now orphans.  It is just awful! I know we can give them food and shelter and even a shoulder to cry on, but I just hurt inside for these people.  I can not imagine the fear and grief.  Lets all say a prayer tonight for our fellow citizens.

My head is bowed Mom,  I am just heartsick.  Our investment club was planning on going to New Orleans in October.,...i told them we should still go and help. Think we are going to do it....Sent money to Red Cross today still feel so bad.

Thoughts and prayers are with you alll,

May God watch over and give you strength...and may tomarrow be brighter ......
