HI guys, I managed to not feel so low today, I gave myself a pep talk after all your great caring responses.  I took my meds and a couple of extra painkillers, and managed to walk 35 minutes with the cane, which I think may be the reason for me not getting as sore as yesterday (by trying not to use it) admittedly I walked 15 mins and had a 10 minute rest and my two boys were with me encouraging me all the way, thank God for them and my wonderful hubby, I really do think I am blessed.

Anyhow, I had my shower, had heaps of veggies for tea and 2 bits of fruit and I am back on track, after a bump in the road!

Do you think that as my ALT (Liver) tests are abnormal that they could be causing the high blood pressure?  It just seems strange that they both occurred around the same time after a long period of stability?  Gp may be stopping my MTX to see if ALT improves.  I am dreading it as I have definitely noticed an improvement on MTX but as usual, can't tolerate it for too long.  I have dropped my pred from 10mg to 8mg also which is unheard of for me, I am still in lots of pain, but a lot of it is from Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, so I am going to see a new private pain specialist on the 1st of May, wish me luck, and thanks again, hugs Janie. Janie, so glad you are feeling better today, but try not to overdo it.  It does seem odd that the liver and bp acted up at the same time.  I hope they have some answers for you.Good to see that you are over that bump in the road, and like others, don't go and over do things.

Question : Do you check your own blood pressure and pulse or do you have it checked at the docs.

I ask because Julie bought us a little gizmo that straps onto the wrist that I/we can check ourselves.
Handy little thing in my book.
Good job!  Good luck with the PS in May!Well first off let me say i am so proud of you. Good for you!! Yes i get more done and have a better day if i just take my pain pill for breakfast. High cholesterol can cause a fatty liver. Also get tested for hepatises and even Aid's. There is an AI hepetits. And even meds and even high cholesterol meds can cause a raise in liver enzymes. I was tested for everything except AI hepititis. I was younger when my liver markers went up. My periods stoped for the most part then i may get one a year. But i was to young for this. Now origanally scince they could not find anything other than my high cholesterol to have caused the raise in liver markers my dx was fatty liver caused by high cholesterol. But i had every symtem for AI hepitits. I was even flaring at the time when my liver markers where raised. High cholesterol does put you at risk for storke, heart attack and diabetis. You must get your blood pressure under control and walking is really going to help with that. So that is very important right now. Yor liver can heal. But we have to help it heal. Get very health consious on your diet. Education. If it is AI related pred can help protect the liver from scaring. Really if you can not walk this much every day as you may be sore tomorrow, just do not get dicouraged. Do what you can even three good days of walking for 35 min to start should help much with this high blood pressure and lots with getting this wieght off. Do what you can and be proud of yourself. Tell your doctor you are doing your part and see if they can help anymore with the highblood pressure meds. I know some can make you tired and we may not want that right now. Also have you been to a sleep clinic? Make sure you do not have sleep apnia as this can cause highblood pressure also. HI guys thankyou so much once again for all the support and info, Stephen- that is a good idea about the blood pressure monitor, I will try and get one.  Milly, I do have sleep apnea and I use a nasal mask, thanks for the info though.  I am doing what I can, I think, my GP doesn't want to put me on another drug, she said she will have to add something to the existing blood pressure drug very soon if it doesn't go down.  Have a great day, love Janie.

I just hope that bet. you and the docs and pain specialist you will be able to beat this problem.

lorrie2008-11-23 23:42:31Janie, I'm so glad you are feeling better! Lorrie mentioned that pain can cause hi blood pressure and I can attest to that. My blood pressure is always a bit low, but when the pain is getting out of control it really goes up. Still within normal range, but close to being considered  high.
I''m so glad you can take walks. What great boys you have! That's very sweet of them to go with you. Also gives you some nice time with them. How old are the? I know you've said but I forgot.
Stay well, Hugs, Nini
Glad you are feeling better about it today, Janie!

much hugs!
Janie, congratulations on 35 minutes! try not to over do. Are you on pill form mtx or injectible? Reason I ask is because my liver tests were high at one point and i asked Rheumy if I could try injectible. He was reluctant saying it was the same and the test would be high on injectible too, but he let me try and my liver tests have been fine ever since. He said  it didn't make sense, but what does when it comes to these crazy diseases.
keep up the good work!
DebHey Janie..Great news!  Good to see you took the bull by the horns and went out and did what you wanted to do.  Yay for you Great news, Janie.  Thirtyfive minutes is no small feat.  I'm impressed!  Your family is also very impressive.  Lucky girl.  With that kind of support system I'm sure you'll do well and get better and better.  Well done!!!

HI guys, thankyou so much for your encouragement, I am off to my GP this morning, she gives me my injection of MTX, and we talk about all the other probs going on.  I am going to walk everyday regardless, I feel as though I am achieving something.  Yesterday I could only manage 15 mins as my feet and back were hurting too much.  Also the MTX tummy decided to arrive while I was out walking and it was so hard to make it home in time - if you know what I mean - ha ha.  Not funny at the time though, I was sweating buckets and looked the picture of health - NOT - by the time I got home, my husband could not believe how bad I looked and felt just after 15 mins of walking, so I had a shower and a lay down for 1 hour,  I have been trying not to spend too much time in bed, it was becoming a bad habit, although most of the time I needed it, sometimes it pays to work through it or just sit up and read or do my crosswords!  thanks again you gorgeous bunch of friends!!!!!  Janie. maybe you need to work your way up in the minute department for your walks. Since now you know 15 mins is too much maybe try 10mins tomorrow or whenever you feel up to it and stay at 10mins until you feel you are improving and then try to add 5 more minutes when you feel you can do 10mins without much pain or problems.

I hope the best for you, Janie.

Much Hugs!
Thanks Joonie, you are a real friend, love Janie.  Hope your troubles are little ones! Awww, did you all hear that - I mean read that? she called us gorgeous! LOL Janie, you have inspired me to give walking a try. I just have to make sure I have someone with me because I tend to trip and fall a lot. I will keep you posted. Thank you

Deb
HI Deb. I had lost my confidence with walking because of muscle pain etc, and I got to the point where I did not care what people thought and I got myself a wheelie walker, I put my dog in the basket on cushions and off we go, a bottle of water and my mobile phone radio - great and takes my mind off of the pain, also I try to walk down near the bay as the views are lovely.  At present though I am just using a cane, which is a step forward for now.

Update on walking, went again today 20 mins, pain in ankles and spine mainly but I made it.  Love Janie.  I really hope you can do it Deb, if I can you can, love Janie. you're doing awesome girlie, keep it up!
