Has anyone developed any dental problems since starting methotrexate.

I started the meds in June 07, and since about August 07, i have had mega sensitive teeth, and had a few that have cracked and had to be filled.
I have had  3 cracked and filled and my teeth are so sensitive. I have tried sensodyne toothpaste but it only works for a short while, I am back to the dentist on Thursday morning, as i am having trouble with 1 tooth that is mega sensitive, cant chew on it, cold and hot drinks cause pain.
My teeth have been fab until i started the meds, is it coincidence or could it be the methotrexate Hi Deb, I too have had dental problems since MXT and biologics.  My teeth and gums are very sensitive and I've been using Sensodyne with pretty good response.  I'm going to the dentist next week because I have a tooth that's extremely sensitive and hurts when I chew.  I also have developed some mega plaque which I know is bad for us when we're on these drugs.  My teeth were in great shape prior to starting these drugs.  The dental changes have been the biggest problem I've had with the drugs.  What antibiotics and for how long were you prescribed for dental pre treatment?  LindyI havent been given any anti biotics pre dental treatment!! should i have been!?
I am going to the dentist again on Thursday morning, i did mention to a dentist 3 months ago about being on methotrexate, but he didnt seem that bothered really!
Sensodyne did work for me for while, but then it got too bad. I cant believe it really, i havent had any problems with my teeth at all, never had a filling etc, i get on these meds and they are falling apart I have just read this

Be careful brushing and flossing your teeth or using a toothpick while receiving methotrexate because you may get an infection or bleed more easily. If you have any dental work done, tell your dentist you are received methotrexate.

when i left rheumatology and was put back into the hands of my GP, I was never told or given paper work that mentioned anything about teeth and dentists to be informed. I am really quite annoyed about that ugh.. something else to worry about.... off to call the dentist. hi
