Went to PCP today about my neck/shoulder issues. Go me! LoL

Left after 7 x-rays and 2 RXes. SHEW! She's thinking I may have injured my neck at some point without really realizing it. And then I went for almost a year without any treatment (back when I had no insurance) And that may have made it worse.

Anyway, they did x-rays and she RXed me Soma and Tremadol. Shew!

Justin said I spoke well and told her *everything* Which I don't usually do. But I really really really like this doctor. She doesn't scare me. LoL But I was nervous, and I did sweat and stutter and everything, but I stuck with it!

And in a few hours when I pick up my meds, I will hopefully be feeling *super* again. :) And hopefully I'll hear back from here in a couple of days as to how the x-rays look.

Oh great for you and get well soon!! Of course we are proud of you. I was missing you yesterday. But after my long day i am ready for a nap. Catch you when i wake up maybe.

Thanks guys. Yeah, when I take Justin I speak up more. Cause I know if I don't, he's just going to stand up and fill in what I missed, and embarrass me. LOL

I'm downing some pot pie so I can take a Soma. Ah, sweet relief!

Go katie!!  I have a problem at the office too. I always take a piece of paper with stuff written down. I probably look like a nut! I think that's my biggest fear, Christina. Looking like a crazy woman.  But this doctor doesn't even go by "Dr Johnson" She goes by Catherine. Which rocks. LoL That's one extra touch of comfort for me. And then, she has EMOTION when she speaks to me. Which helps too. When I was telling her how my neck spasmed in the gas station, and that side swelled up so hard my ear was touching it, her eyes got wide and she said "WOW....." But she said it like it was cool. Which is how I thought of it at the time too. LOL I mean, how often do you see THAT in your life?? Good for you, Katie! See...they're just people after all. But when I was young I was afraid of docs, too. They are supposed to be so smaart and know what's wrong with you by just looking in your eyes.

As I got older I realized that they are no more intelligent than I am. They have just had A LOT more education. If I have something to offer to the conversation with the doctor, I just go for it. We know our bodies better that anyone.

Having a doctor that you really connect with is wonderful. Then you can work as a team. Hope the meds work well for you. Please let us know what the x-rays show.

Hugs, Nini
how nice to have a doctor with emotions!!! lol My RD is the WEIRDEST man on the planet. He just stares at me. I feel like some kind of strain of virus that they have never seen before!!
He makes me feel weird. Oh and I smile at him and he doesn't smile back.
Glad you found a nice doctor!  I seem to have much better luck with PCP's than RD's. I HATED my JRA doc. Maybe they are a weird bunch of people. Like my husband, he is an engineer and I could pick an engineer out of a crowd now!  Although I am sure he could say the same thing about crazy art teachers! LOL
Way to go! Glad you had a positive experience!Isnt it just wonderful that you found a Dr that listens to you and you like her too!
I think everyone should take someone who they are close with to the Dr's office
for the reason that you mentioned , if you forget to ask a question or bring up a concern the other person would ( hopefully ) ask.
I warms my heart that you have your best friend (Justin ) to be there all the way for you Everyone should have that!!

LOL Christina! You know, I don't really remember most of my JRA docs. Just the one lady in the UK. She was really involved though, she was writing a book and doing research etc etc etc. So it was a completely different experience. I'd have to agree with you though, that for the most part RD's are really in a class of their own. HOWEVER........I do really like my current RD. She smiles A LOT, which is a big deal to me. I know, I'm a freak. lol

Thanks Maimi and W2BRAfree! :) I'm feeling pretty good after taking the Soma. No need for anything else tonight. Pain wasn't worth a pill, so I'll just save them for when it is. After taking the Soma, I can move my neck in all the directions your SUPPOSED to be able to! I haven't been able to do that in WEEKS!
Hey!
I'm so glad you found a dr. that you like and listens!!!  Let us know how that Soma works out...sounds like you are off to a great start!
Phats

Yeah-ta-whooey Katie! Heck, my mom would be proud of you LOL!  Glad it went so well. WTG KATIE!!! You're a big girl now!!! I hope you get good news back on xrays.

take care
Katie- the doctor definetely makes all the difference, it gives you lots more confidence and trust. I'm proud of you my ferret friend.Excellent!  You've got a great combination going now.  You've found a doctor who will really listen and help you, and you have Justin who eggs you on to tell everything that's happening.  Bring him with you every time.  You're on a roll.
