Hey there,

My name is Becky and I have had RA for 13 years now. I have been on most of the meds out there and have just started Synvisc.

Looking forward to hearing from others that are in the same boat.

Hi becky I am new here too. I have only been diagnosed since july but sick since may. I had pnemonia first and pluresy. I have been to a rhuemy 5x. But am in the process of finding a new one. I was really bad quickly I was in a wheelchair in 7 days of the flare so my dr had to find a rhuemy real fast so you go down the list from best to worst whoever could take me this guy saw me in less than 2 wks so to say the least he is a dick. Anyways I have been on other chat lines in canada but people do not answer you back for days and they are so serious I need somebody to just talk qabout stuff I have a sense of humour about some of this stuff the silly stuff so I hope people are cool cause I really need to chat so have a good day and welcome.....TERESA merry38628.5860532407

Hi Merry,

Good to hear from you!! Hope that you are having a good day--or at least as well as possible!! I am on here some, but for the most part I am on the Arthritis forum at About.com--have you checked it out??

I have a pretty good sense of humor most of the time, and I believe that laughter is the best medicine sometimes!!

What are some of your interests?? Are you still able to work?? I work part time as on office manager (12 days a week, but sometimes it is a struggle.

Take care and write when you can!

Becky

Hi becky sorry I took so long anyways how are you? I will tell alittle about myselfI am not able to work since may as I am acute or all my joint are real bad I have had lots of flares. I am not able to work but that is okay as I have a 6 yr old and it is nice to spend more time with him. I try to go to the gym and go on the bike if I feel up to it I am getting a ne rhuemy and should see him in the next 3 wks My med are not working. I can barely move If I move the wrong way or bang something it flares. Anyways I like to read and I really like retail therapy but that I can not afford these days . I also try to find the humor in all this but sometimes I hit my limit and have no humor. I wish to go back to work one day but the drs tell me hairdressing is out I am currently appling for cpp as my ei ran out last week and a one income family will be intresting. I sound depressing but really there are far off worse peaople feel free to email me if you want mister04@telus.net and we can chat back and forth....Have a good day....TERESA

My name is Debbie and this is my first day on this website.  I found out 3 months ago that I had RA.  I am taking plaquenil and aleeve.  My doctor suggested that I go on Methotrexate but I want to wait and see if the plaquenil works.  Some of these other meds scare me and if I can handle the aches and pains I want to wait.  The RA is in my fingers, feet and neck.  I have had 7 knee surgeries and my RA does not appear to be in my knees, everything else has already been there

Hi  Debbie,
Nice to meet you!! Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but it is nice to have others to talk to that are in the same boat as you. I do understand what you mean about some of the meds scaring you--I felt the same way before I went on some of them.

I have been on Metho, Enbrel and now I have been on Remicade a little over a year now and it has helped me a great deal. I also have problems with RA and OA in the knees. May have to have surgery sometime in the near future.

I hang out here some, but also at About.com Arthritis forum which is a great place too. You should check it out if you get the chance.

Becky

Hi Becky-I have had RA now for 15 years and have been on most drugs too. I found Enbrel 2 years ago and have been a lot better. Hope you are too.

Hey there,

Glad that the Enbrel is working well for you!! Have been on Remicade for a little over a year now and it has been working well for me--still having some problems with the knees, but praying that the Synvisc works for that!!

Take care and have a good day!

Becky

Becky- what is Synvisc? Is it a pill or a shot? Is your RA mainly in your knees? Mine is in my hands and feet. Feet aren't as bad though. I always joke with people - that's b/c you don't open jars with your toes. My hands are pretty deformed

Have a good night!

Synvisc is a medication that they use for Osteoarthritis in the knees (I have OA and RA) it is given in a series of three injections over 15 days time. I have RA pretty much all over but the knees are what give me the most problems. The remicace pretty much keeps thing under control--but there is so much damage already done to the knees that the Remicade can't reverse.

Have a good night and a better tomorrow!

Becky

Prayer and good thoughts to you today and always!

Thanks and the same right back at ya!!

Becky

Hey there,

I guess I cope like most of us do--one day at a time with a lot of faith!!  No special diet really, but have found through trial and error that too much sugar and red meat don't do the arthritis any favors!!

Take care,

Becky

P.S. I don't have MSN, but I am on Yahoo as praise2himalways if you have Yahoo
