Alright between the 80 of us that post on here, someone's gotta be able to help me out here!!

With gas prices as high as they are, I'm not so sure that Justin and I can afford to keep driving as far out as we are. Now is the time when *everyone* is hiring. But I need a resume!! And I'm clueless. I know, 24 and I've never had a resume. But I haven't really done that much, so that's why.

Is anyone willing to help a lady? *grin*

Well Katie, I would if I could.  Sorry.  But you're right, someone will be able and willing, I know it.

no prob Link! :) I've already gotten an offer for help via PM! Yay! I knew *someone* on here would have the know how.

I've been puttering with these online templates you can get, but I'm just a clueless brick of crap. It's sad. LoL
I'll gladly recommend that you first compile three lists to get started making a good resume.
First are your job skills. Second is a chronological list of your jobs and what you did--latest to oldest. Finally your education in the same chronological fashion.

A big hint is that a resume needs to have something spark interest. Instead of merely rattling off job functions, show that you weren't just doing your job. I was an administrative assistant.  99% percent of admins do pretty much the same thing. This is my description: Office administration of an award-winning IT department with a staff of over 100 people. Supervised multi-million dollar invoicing/payment for consultants and expenses. Arranged executive travel itineraries, meetings, and many other departmental needs.  Without stating it specifically, I showed responsibility and attention to detail and helped contribute to a successful organization.

Oooo thank you. That was an awesome tip! katie - I just started applying for jobs for nursing and had lots of help writing my resume. If you want i can email you my sample resume. you are more than welcome to use it as a template and if you have any questions you are more than welcome to ask.  Katiekins, what about that job you applied for a while back at the school near your house?   Has it opened up?  Have you followed up with them at all?Besides the resume, it's important to send a letter along with it, and if you get an interview, please take the time to send out a thank you note.  I typically get more information that I'm looking for in the initial letter, and if someone takes the time to write a thank you note they stick out in my mind.

Oh, and a little something to stay away from....(someone actually did this when I was interviewing them)  When I would ask a question and she couldn't think of something to say, she smacked her forehead and said "brain fart"...OMG, ya, I didn't hire her, lmao.
LMAO brain fart. Hahahaha That's hilarious!

Karen, they never called back, but that is one of my stops! I promise!! :)
Glad to hear it Katie.  Let me know if there's anything I can do to help the job hunt.
