Hi guys, I forgot to ask this question and I hope I don't seem stupid asking it.  Here goes,
as my ALT is up (liver toxicity),  and it is probably from a combination of meds or just from the MTX, do all our medications have to go through the liver or is it just oral drugs?  I just don't know what I am going to do if I have to stop some of these meds, especially my Endone and Tramal!!  Thanks for any assistance.  Janie.

It depends on the drug, whether it is metabolized in the liver or the blood stream.  All drugs are different...you can literally overdose on Tylenol because it is processed in the liver and if you take too much you can toxify it and kill yourself...who knew, right?

Actually, medications are metabolized by the liver or kidneys and excreted via urine, feces, etc.  Most, if not all meds go thru the blood stream.

To lower the LFT's you can do a couple of things.

1) add milk thistle to your regime.  My AP doc credits that with having my numbers drop within 2 1/2 months of starting AP.

2) whole lemon/olive oil drink - search here - it WORKS and dropped my swelling ASAP - enough so my husband made me drink it - I HATE LEMON.  It tastes like a frothy lemonade which is fine if you don't HATE lemon.
