I am to begin Orencia on March 17.  Has anyone taken it that will have some input as to how it helps?Haven't taken it.  But hello and welcome to the board.  I know their are a few here that take Orencia so be sure to check back. Can't help with the question but welcome to the board. Hi!!  Sorry I can't help with the RX question.  But wanted to welcome a fellow newbie!I have been on Orencia since October. The actual infusion of the med takes about 30 min. But, they will run saline before and after. I am usually out in about 2 hrs.

I have seen improvement. Definitely the best med for me so far. I was on Enbrel for 3yrs. Then Humira and then Remicade. Remicade worked great for about 2 yrs. Then, things just started flaring up to much.

I haven't had any side effects with the Orencia either.

See, somebody knew something!

Hi and welcome!

Pip
Thanks for all the welcome messages!

My doctor didn't mention anything about the saline solution.  They only told me it would take about 30 minutes and they scheduled an MRI of my hand thirty minutes after my appointment time for Orencia.
I know that the saline is run for about 30min after. I was told that was so they could make sure you weren't going to have any sort of reaction.

My dr.'s office can't mix the Orencia on site. It has to be done at the hospital. Not quite sure why-they could mix the Remicade. Anway, the hospital won't mix until the patient has an IV running. That might be why they run the saline ahead of time.Hi and welcome, I tried Orencia but I think I was like the only person on the planet to have an anaphylactic reaction, but don't stress, I am allergic to everything - you will be fine.  (It only happened once in all the trials of Orencia, so they thought it highly unlikely that anyone would have it happen, ha ha)  Best of luck, Janie.
Welcome to the board. hope the orencia helps. I'm starting Remicade tom, so I know how you feel. Good Luck.Hi RaPerson, and welcome to the site. I haven't taken that med either but wanted to wish you the best of luck that it works for you. How long have you had ra?
Keep us updated and let us know how the infusion went.
take care
