I am allergic to Mysquitoes, the sun, sulfa and looks like Oscar Myer weeiners

mysquitoes - I swell up BIG time where they bite me. Found out I was allergic to them because one night I got bite by a mysquito by my eye, and the next morning my eye was swelled shut. If I get bit by a mysquito it will get a really big lumpy, knot and stays that way for a few days.

Sun - I get white splotches and I feel sick after being out in the sun.

Sulfa - I get hives all over and fever.

Oscar Myer weeiners - I get itchy hives on my upper thighs.

So... what are you allergic to?
Well, nothing that I know of.  But I wish I was allergic to brussel sprouts!!  YUCK!

(Sorry, that doesn't add anything of value to this thread, I just really, really hate brussel sprouts.)
Tetracyclines... I actually get "red man syndrome"... seems a little sexist to me.

Poison ivy... I have an EXTREME reaction!  The last time I had it, my eyes swelled shut!  Pred pack to fix it!

And recently, I've started a latex sensitivity... just contact dermatitis so far... but I'm avoiding it!
Hayfever - tree and grass pollen, mostly.  I used to be allergic to cats when I was little, but that pretty much went away in college when I got my cat Charlotte.  She was 5 pounds of fur and fury.  After a few months, I was no longer bothered by my cat allergy.  I used to give her a bath every so often at first; perhaps that lessened the allergens enough so that I built up tolerance.

No medicines, foods, sun, bugs... though I did break out in hives while watching "The Ten Commandments" on Easter Sunday in 2001.F****** pine trees. How ridiculous is that? And deer flies/horse flies/ something flies. One of those giant unnaturally large flies bit me when I was 3, and my entire leg swelled up. Ended up in the ER on lots and lots and lots o'benadryl. Haven't been bit by one since, and don't really plan on testing that allergy. LoL HMMMM....   If i can remember it all. Sulfa and all drugs of course with sulfa in them which is some pain meds and dieretics, penicillin. tetricycline, zithrymiacin, erithrimycin, bioxin, diflucan, nystatin, asprin, naproxen, ibuphrophen, celebrex, tramidol, darvocet, prevacid, and most gerd medications, all that i have tried anyway. phenabarbitol, Serevent and all the newer asthma remedies, Arava, garlic, nutrisweet, Rosehips, hawthornberry, paprica, some chemicals i do not even know the name of they had at work said it was a secret ingrediant, some form of polyestor which mother always said broke me out in a rash when i was a child. Every type of grass, several different trees, corn pollen, ragweed, animals and insects. Possibly even myself. Not for sure about the self allergy but that can be a cause of low blood sugar which i have, so it is just a thought, Also lactose intolerent. Febreez, a few antihystimines, had my tubes tied years ago was having problems with my birthcontrol pills. Antidepressents all i have tried which is several. But i got rid of the guy that was making me deppressed and feel alot better that was years ago. Actually epi shots for allergic reactions tend to get me stired up to where i need antidepresants. So basically we like to try to avoid the epi shots. And high does pred drives me mad but i seem to stabalise pretty quickly when i am back to mantance dose. Took some celexa a few months back and was allergic to it also. So sometimes if i think about i worry if there is an RA treatment for me? But i prefer not to think about it. I am going to try to fight this disease. And i was allergic to my allergy shots. I think that is all but i may have forgot one or two.Oh yes tomatoe plants, i can eat but can not pick. Fire ants i am allergic to. I think i am allergic to oranges or at least the last few times i drank orange juice i got pretty sick so i just quit drinking it and started to feel better. Tryed it again and same thing it made me swell, sweat terrible stomache upset and ill health for several days. But no rash from the orange juice , but i always used to drink it all of the time. My goodness, Milly. Sounds like you should be in a bubble.
Well, nothing that I know of.  But I wish I was allergic to brussel sprouts!!  YUCK!  (Sorry, that doesn't add anything of value to this thread, I just really, really hate brussel sprouts.)
I am not allergic to anything either, but I second the brussel sprouts thing..oh and asparagus. ICK!Mmmmmm asparagus in butter sauce.........mmmmmmmm And Katie fresh aspargus from the field not from the store or a can is so sooooooooo GOOD! MMMMMMM!!!MMMmmmm.... MAC & CHeese! Darn it! I am like a bottomless pit these last couple of days. I just feel like I am starving or something!

I guess I am going to go make some mac & cheese.I am allergic to sulfa, mtx, pollen, grass, flowers, trees, dust, cats, animals anything with fur, poison ivy had a severe episode that was 3rd degree skin layers, any kind of cologne, soap, lotion, smell good spray, candles, etc that are flowerly scented. This allergy is new and just came on a few minutes ago: KIDS.....I'm allergic to my kids and they need to go to bed. LOL
This allergy is new and just came on a few minutes ago: KIDS.....I'm allergic to my kids and they need to go to bed. LOL
LMAO

Ooh, asparagus with velveeta. Ooh, velveeta shells and cheese. So hungry. Must...not...eat.........             *sigh* I'm trying to drop those "last 10lbs." But damn, just plain velveeta sounds good!! That would require a trip to Walmart though, so I'm safe. ;)

I'm allergic to PCN and sunflower seeds. Benadryl and phenagren (sp?) give me restless leg/arm syndrome.  As far as I know, there isn't anything else.
I too swell big as a house with skeeto bites :)

Milk and possibly corn, have to try it out.

I do get horribly sick and I mean SICK if i eat the following:
Fish sticks, hot dogs, glass of milk
Glad I could get you laughing, Katie.
There is no school tomorrow, so son thinks he can stay up late and he gets really goofy the later it gets. Me, I get grouchier the later it gets. The two do not mix.
Benadryl - red, itchy, swollen face
Pollen, mold, stuff that blows around in the air
Dust mites, stuff that sits around in the house
Fuzzy animals, especially cats
Sunlight - terrible hives, flu-like symptoms
Wellbutrin - terrible hives (but it worked so well on the pain!!!)
Corn syrup - sore throat (when I was young, but I just overloaded with it and now I'm fine!)
Umm, probably some other stuff, it's been awhile since I've been tested, but Zyrtec every morning and Singulair every evening still isn't enough to make it all better.
According to what some of you posted - you're not allergic at all.  The following is a link to the entire article.  Unless you can't breathe - it's pretty much not a 'true' allergy.  And many APer's believe that the allergies we think we have are actually herxheimer reactions to some meds or foods with antimicrobial, antifungal or antibactial component in the make up.  Like cinnamon.  Or capsaicin (chili peppers and some peppers).  Etc.

Katie - my response to your other post was deleted by pure idiocy.  Will type it out again.  Sigh,

Pip

Side Effects and Allergic Reactions to Medications

Patients commonly comment, “I can’t take any medications. I seem to be allergic to everything!” Other patients provide their health care provider with a long list of medications to which they are allergic, often ruling out any reasonable hope of medicinal therapy for their condition. And still others are appropriately concerned about side effects, noting that they would rather not take a medication “if it’s going to make me sleepy” (or cause an ulcer, and so on). For most people, the inability to tolerate any medication and “global allergies” to all medicines are medical myths.

Medication allergies and side effects are critical issues for all patients and health care providers. They account for up to 5 percent of hospital admissions in the United States and contribute to complications during the hospital stays of another 5 percent of admissions. But many "allergies" presumed to be dangerous are actually based on false assumptions or represent side effects quite separate from an allergic reaction.

A Primer on Drug Reactions

Some definitions are in order when thinking about medicines and the possible problems they may cause. A true allergy is one type of side effect in which the immune system seems to overreact to what it sees as a foreign substance; thus, all drug allergies are side effects, but not all side effects (also called an intolerance or adverse reactions) are allergies. In some situations, it may not matter.

Whether a drug reaction results from an allergy or intolerance, you may want to avoid any medication that causes a significant problem for you. On the other hand, it pays to be careful before considering yourself allergic to a medicine that might be very helpful for your particular condition.

Drug allergies. Allergic reactions are handled by the body’s immune system, which is the surveillance and defense system that helps us fend off invaders, such as infections, that might cause problems. Medication exposure may lead to several types of allergic reactions, ranging from a mild rash to life-threatening breathing difficulties and lowered blood pressure (also called anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock).

Fortunately, fewer than 5 percent of allergic reactions are severe. In one form of allergic reaction, previous exposure to a medication leads to antibody formation (called IgE) – the next time the body sees that medication, immune cells (called mast cells and basophils) are directed to release powerful chemicals, including histamine, into the circulation and tissues. In the most severe cases, these chemical messengers provoke hives, itching, swelling of the lips, airway closure and low blood pressure.

Drug intolerance. Most of the time, medication intolerance has nothing to do with the immune system or any allergic component. A good example is the gastrointestinal side effects (nausea, abdominal cramping, diarrhea) of erythromycin. Up to 25 percent of people develop significant problems of this sort because of a direct effect of the antibiotic on the intestinal tract, but no drug allergy is involved. One can still take this medicine if diarrhea has occurred; for example, a lower dosage of the medication or a different formulation of the same antibiotic might be well-tolerated. A “newer-generation” antibiotic in the same family as erythromycin (such as clarithromycin) might also be well-tolerated. On the other hand, if a significant allergic reaction (such as a severe rash or wheezing) has occurred, these other options would be much more risky, and all of them should be avoided.

The Risks Involved

The chance that an individual would be allergic to multiple, unrelated medicines is small – but not impossible. Similarly, there is a critical difference between the risk of a side effect that can be expected to occur in a minority of cases and the expectation of a side effect that is the rule rather than the exception.

For the vast majority of medicines, there is a chance that a problem will develop, but that chance is rarely high. In fact, a medication that usually causes significant problems well beyond its expected benefits would be unlikely to win approval by the Food and Drug Administration, and even if it did, no physician would prescribe it.

When considering an alternative, it is important to recognize that a medication’s action and a side effect may be related to one another, may be unrelated to one another or may be unknown. In confusing situations when a particular medication seems vitally important, allergy testing and even desensitization (in which tiny but increasing amounts of the medication are taken to minimize the risk of a severe reaction) may be warranted.

The next time a medication is recommended to you, weigh the risks and benefits -- including any unfavorable reactions you may have had with it (or any other medications) in the past. However, concerns about side effects that are not well-substantiated could lead you to forego effective therapy. So don’t swear off a medication without first discussing with your doctor whether you are likely to be allergic to it – otherwise, you may be turning down a highly effective and acceptably safe treatment, and that is also a risk worth avoiding.

2007
I think I might DIE if I became allergic to cats. I just don't know what I'd do. It almost makes me cry to think about it! :( *sniffle* Actually I almost died several times BECAUSE of my allergy to cats.  I found this out after I adopted a stray kitten many years ago.  I lost the poor thing after two weeks to feline leukemia, but the allergic reaction stuck around.  We replaced the carpet, drapes, fabrics, even the wallpaper, but I still had trouble with that room until I moved.  It's sad because I love kitties, and they always love me, so I end up having to shoo them away.

Pip, I agree there is a difference.  With the Benadryl and Wellbutrin, they were on their way to affecting my breathing.  Right now I'm running to the bathroom a lot either because of Augmentin, Incodin, or the combination of the two.  Not fun, but not an allergy.  Hopefully when I finish the Aumentin (tomorrow), it will go away.
I don't think I've ever had brussel sprouts. can you believe it?

I used to think I was allergic to Fire Ants. And then I read up on them, and found out that everyone reacts to their bites differently. So where MOST people get that nasty white bump that itches like mad, I get a LOVELY quarter sized red spot, with a white bump in the middle that swells out a good inch or so, and itches a good 6 inches in radius. GREAT! lol And they say that's normal! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I am allergic to shrimp. I can eat it and it doesn't bother me, but if I have to peel them, my hands get all itchy and bumpy. Fireants dig a hole into me. Not really wide but very very deep. Will itch for three months. And those horse flys, may flys, dog flies whatever i would rather be attacked by a mosquito, as the misquito bite would heal and quit itching much faster than a horse fly bite will linger for weeks with me.And piosonivy i do not even want to think about. Oh my!! I had the shots as a child. I would swell like the elephant man. Thats what i thought if i could open my eyes enough to see my face in the mirror. I lived on a farm and had hayfever was always rubbing my itchy little eyes and would rub the pioson ivy right into them. I was a pretty miserable little kid at times. The shots wore off twenty years later and i was a miserable adult. They do not make the shots anymore. No one will tell me why. I guess there was something bad about them. Scary if you had them. Maybe they make you allergic to medicine?

Snow - hives and itching is a common 'herx' - we lower the dose and 'work thru it' until we get better.  The problem only comes on when we can't breathe.  That's how sulfa is for me so I have to 'get over' that one a different way.  More research.  I know it can be done.  I just have to figure out how.

Cindee - your 'guts' are having the same reaction.  Eventually you should flare from it if you eat enough.

Hugs,

Pip
Be careful when wondering if it is an alleric reaction. Sulfa makes my throat swell shut. At first i thought was my imagination and just a sore throat. Well it gave me giant hives also. But a dieretic with a lower dose of sulfa my skin was awful it was all red and then was literally peeling, not as in peeling like a sun burn i mean deep peeling as in blood. And allergic reactions for me cause internal swelling as well. Can not poo for a long time, will shut down my intestines as they swell so badly. Of course my face always blows up and my eyes swell shut and my vision blurs. I think i qualify for true allergic reactions. I have had somethings i could not breath for weeks. I really hate it when that happens. If you have questions you should consult an allergy specialist. It is just that i am trying to say. Different drugs cause me rashes in different areas to start. Some signs of allergie will present first with one thing and differntly with another med, but all usually end up effecting everything. Some come on sudden and other things i may take awhile before i blow up. Be careful please. Antiphalactic shock and all. A slight reaction one time could be a serious reaction another.I got a question. I found out I was "allergic" to Sulfa after I was put on Sulfasalazine, I had broke out in hives and trouble breathing which I had to go to the ER.

Later I was RXed Celebrex by one of my RD's the one that put me on Arava. The pharmacist called and told me if I had broke out with hives from the Sulfasalazine, that I probably could not take Celebrex, well... by that time I had already been taking the samples for a couple of weeks, and did not have a reaction. BUT...

After being on the Celebrex for a couple of months I noticed that I would have pains in my side. So... I stopped taking the Celebrex, and after that the pain in my side went away. My next door neighbor his is allergic to sulfa too, and celebrex gave him the same pain in the side.

Since stopping the Celebrex I have not had that pain in my side with any other meds.

So... I guess I do not have a question, just was wondering what it was.Probably just your gut swelling. Maybe some other internal organ. Or an ulcer. Best not to take if you had breathing problems from the sulfa. Even if you get samples sometimes it's best to call the pharmacy and ask whats in the pain pills before you take them.I LOVE BRUSSEL SPROUTS, MY 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER LOVES BRUSSEL SPROUTS!! Especially with mint sauce on them.yummy!!
I am allergic to red cabbage and strawberrys. Dust and sometihng I dont know what. I have had an itchy rash all over that keeps coming and going. Havent decided whats causing it yet.
I am allergic to mice and ferrets. I break out in a sweat, start to shake and i feel like I want to be sickI am allgeric to codine and penicillian (sp) oh and the antibiotic leviquin.  My doc called it a toxic allgeric reaction.

And I will tell you one you will probably die laughing.  Giving birth.  All three times I gave birth the next day or so I broke out in horrible hives that itched so bad and made me so miserable.  Would last about 4 days.  Sometimes I would require shots other times the otc meds would help.

And the sun (sorta).  I get this rash that seems to be more under the skin.  And it itches.  Use to be on my upper legs only.  Last year it would happen on my upper legs arms and upper chest.  (the part exposed to the sun).

I can eat tomatos love them.  But if I don't wash my hands the very sec I am done cutting them my hands will turn red, swell and itch terrible.
And bee stings.  I am not sure if it's an allgeric reaction because usually its only the site or the area around the site.  I have actually gotten a hole the size of the end of my pinky in my arm where a bee stung me.  Or once my foot swelled up and turned purple and you couldn't touch my foot without me screaming in pain.
im allergic to everything that is outdoors but cockroaches (did an alergy test about 6.5 yrs ago) umm but recently Ive bee allergice to eggs...give me horrible stomach pain where im in the bathroom for the rest of the morning.  Now I can eat eggs if they are in something just not cooked like you would make them for breakfast.  Oh and there is this spice that greeks use alot that is on the Greek salad that makes my throat swell...*sometimes* fresh tomatoes do the same thing...Its not bad enough to where wont eat the tomoatoes I just end up taking about 2 benadryl or so and Im good to go...Tho cant do that w/ the eggs nothing helps that one.
Also, I dont know if this is an allergy but meds that are sopsose to make you go to sleep, with the exception of like Ambien, Restoral wire me up...I cannot take Tylenol PM cause it wires me up and if i *try* to lay down and go to bed it feels like Im having a panic attack...The OTC sleep meds, i cannot think of the names right now, but they do i too.  Only the precription sleep meds work..
Kelsay cannot have her clothes washed in regular detergent...We have graduation to the All free and clear...for about 4 yrs since she was born we had to use baby detergent...She has excema and it would really bother it...For the first couple months we had to wash anything of ours that would by chance come in contact w/ her or we would have to put one of her blankets over us or the bed before we could hold her or lay her on the bed.  She eventually grew out of that part of it but stil couldnt wear anything washed in regular detergent.  I would always have to have an extra set of clothes when she got older where I wouldnt need to bring diapers and such becuse she couldnt wear clothes that were other peoples even....She couldnt even play dress up at other peoples houses....poor baby :( She was also allergic to milk and had to have soy formula for the first 18 months then it came back when she was about 4 till this past Jan.

ok sorry for the long winded post shykymom, you said that giving birth gave you hives, did you do them all natural w/ no drugs or did you have them give you something?  kelsaysmommy I had the first two all natural.  The third one I was induced and also had an epidoural (sp).  I thought I got off great with him.  But when he turned three days old I got the same reaction I had with the other two.  I wasn't on any meds at the time.  Everyone use to laugh.  It was really just these hives that itch so bad.  I remember the first time they thought it was the codine (that's why we are not 100% I am allgeric to it).  Then they thought it was the sheets at the hospital.  Nothing helped it lasted a good week.

Second child I had nothing afterwards.  Nothing at all and still did the exact same thing.  Third child it took three days but day three same exact thing.
shykymom...thats really weird...I wonder what it couldve beenI surly don't know.  It's funny because sometimes I break out in hives when I get a cold.  Other times I don't.  And it can't be meds if I have not taken any.  No new laundry soap or dryer sheets.  So beats me.  Those times that happens we have no clue what triggers it.  The welts I can live with the itching I can't.  lolsomething for those who have multiple drug allergies ( across several types/families) might look into and that is the fillers/capsules/non active ingrediants used in the pills.

I had a friend who was allergic to every medicine known to man or so it seemed.  With careful testing with a leading allergist it was discovered she was allergic to a common non active ingrediant in the drugs.  She now has her meds made at a compounding pharmacy and guess what...no more drug allergies

Some common fillers are lactose (milk sugar), microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, sugars (including sucrose, mannitol, sorbitol, fructose, dextrose), whey and yeast.

Binders are used to make the components stick together when the ingredients are compressed to make the pill. Some common binders are povidone, xanthan gum and Carbopol (an acrylic resin).

Other ingredients, such as lubricants, colorants, flavors (in chewable tablets) and plasticizers, may also be used. Lubricants include magnesium stearate, stearic acid, sodium stearyl fumarate and hydrogenated vegetable oil. Lubricants help the tablet mass to compress more readily without sticking to the wall of the mold. The molds may also be sprayed with a releasing agent such as polyethylene glycol, which is another form of wax or grease to allow the pill to drop out of the mold. A variety of colorants may be used depending on the color of the tablet. Colorants or pigments include titanium dioxide (white) and iron oxides (red or yellow). Plasticizers are used to improve the flexibility of coatings so that they don't crack or chip.
Yes my allergy test showed that i was allergic to mice and cochroaches. Yes they can test your blood and see what you react to. I said thats not a problem I was not planning on being around those things so it did not hurt my feelings. We will treat those two problems by aviodance. YUKim allergic to anything thats alive, trees, pollen, ragweed, grass, any animals with fur, hair or dander, hay-cant even wear a straw hat or go on hay rides, morphine, gluten, have an allergy to something that we dont know but everyonce in awhile after i eat out i break out in hives Feathers...I forgot about feathers.  Whenever I stay at a hotel, first thing to check is if there are down pillows.  I can't even stay in the room with them without having problems. My poor aunt, is the perfect "allergy picture" There are no if's and's or but's if you give her any of the following, she swells up, breaks out, and has to be rushed to the ER. Ya ready for the weird list???

Egg WHITES.
Pork.
Strawberries.
Green Peppers (oh yes, JUST green ones!)
Walnuts
Almonds
Pecans
(but every other nut is okay.....)
Milk (not lactose, MILK)

I think the weirdest one is pork. It's so strange! She's the only person in my family that has TRUE allergies like that. She even keeps an epi-pen, just in case she eats something she didn't realize had one of those in it.

And egg WHITES?? How bizarre!
Littlemermaid  I have had two restraunts where i break out in hives or turn bright red. A doctor once told me to not go back to the restraunt and to try to find the cause. He said i am a doctor, my friend is a doctor. His friend and his friends wife went out to eat. His friends wife died at the restraunt from an allergic reaction. Having two doctors with her did not help at all. Probably a presevative that they will not tell me, and paprika is all i could come up with. As i can eat the same foods other places so something extra they are putting into it. And here is a strange one i can not eat bacon bits but i can eat other soy products? Oh they make me so sick. Also i knew i was forgetting things i am also allergic to feather pillows.Bukeye the pharmacist recently told me that one man has found he is allergic to drugs from three different phamacutical companys because of the addded ingredients, he can take the same meds from another company. This man was allergic to thirtyfive medications. I would just be afraid to go back and try all of these meds as pharmacy only keeps records back for two years. I could experiment but wow i could just make myself really sick in the process. It sounds like something to check into and it is food for thought. I plan on doing some research into this sometime. I know the newer time release stuff is a problem and i figure it is what they put in it to make it relaese slower thats one i just stay away from time release stuff. I do better sometimes with old fasion remeidies than newer age meds for sure.I forgot mold, even my daughter can't be around that which makes me sad, i don't want her to be sick.buckeye, what is a compounding pharmacy ?

shykymom...could it be a laytex allergy?  or what they use to disinfect things at the hospital?  LOL this is gonna bother me...yea im werid
kelsaysmommy I have no clue.  Like I said with my son it was the third day and that day I was at home using nothing.  One doctor told me it seems I have an allgeric reaction to change.  Not just in hormones but change like when I break out in hives just from catching a common cold.  My thought was I would do that with all colds but I don't.

And I also found out (and still for some reason I think this is just too odd lol) that you can take meds for a long time then one day belcome very allgeric to it.  How is that possible.

And kelsaysmommy I am not gonna have another one just to see if it happens again.  LOL  (not that I could if I wanted too).
The hormone thing is a specific condition not a serious one , that is i do not think. I knew a lady years ago would get bright red hands and face rashes. She said was awful when she had her son. I do not remember what it was called. She said it more made her look funny than sick. I always got an infection and ran fevers bad after i gave birth. Always a one week hospital stay for me with strong antbiotics. They never said what was infected just that i had an infection, i was usually to sick to care.Severely Allergic  to X-Ray Dyes, Caffiene, Dicofenac and some other anti-inflamms (causing Anaphylaxis).
Sensitive to Penicillin, Chlorine, Bromine and some meds (causing rash). Erythromycin (causing severe stomach pain can't keep down food or fluids). Hayfever (causing Asthma attacks). elaine50002008-03-16 09:45:08Dust and molds but just the upper respiratory with that. Demoral has nearly killed me so I always list that. Terymicin almost killed me stay away from that.

A lot of foods, mushrooms especially. I have a bland diet.

Red mulch.......break out in red itchy blotches when removing it one time. I cannot even touch it.

The permanent hair dyes make my head itch beyond belief. I use the temp ones....hate that gray hair of mine, not ready to be gray. lol

Some soaps. I only use Noxema or Irish Spring, also use vitamin E cream to cleanse face. SO I basically smell like a man with mint when I get out of the bath! lol Oh so sad! Thank goodness for perfume! I can only use Shea butter sparingly or I break out in sort of a fungal type rash on my skin.

Red wine, get congested, so I drink white wine ( grin). Beer on a hot day after mowing or at a get together ( tastes soooo good!), only drink 1 or 2, get congested otherwise and a horrid headache.

Tuna makes me vomit and go to potty all the time and I love Tuna salad. Eggs make me feel bloated, really bloated then comes the heartburn.

I used to be allergic to many foods as a child. Cat and dog dander big time but got away from that....and oh......ragweed.............
compounding pharmacies are the old fashioned kind that actually make the medicines (put together the ingrediants)We are discovering that my older's daughter's dairy issues, whether allergy or intolerance, is going to be more disruptive to our lives than the younger one's JRA!!!  We went to a St. Patrick's Day Festival yesterday.  The little one walked all over, climbed on the huge obstacle course and giant slide, danced to the Irish bands.  Never slowed down, no complaints, happy as can be.  The older one ate two Tootsie Roll Pops, which we now know contain condensed skim milk and whey, got a major headache, made our lives unbearable, and we had to leave early.

Edited to clarify:  Tootsie Roll Pops were selected for Costco purchase by older daughter, who was at Costco with me to help search ingredient lists for something sweet she would enjoy as a snack.  I was clear as to what her purpose/mission was.  We took a few with us to the festival, in case we weren't sure of the ingredients of the items for sale there.  Daughter made our lives unbearable without sharing that she had a major headache, because she did not want to confess to not checking the ingredient list.  It was a really bad day.  Made sense when she finally said she wasn't feeling well, and we checked the ingredients.  Prior to that.....bad scene.  And the cost of 100 Tootsie Rolls Pops is coming out of her allowance.
