Morton's Neuroma | Arthritis Information

So I've been doing some research about the problem with my foot that I posted a couple weeks ago. It's a problem at the toe nearest my pinkie toe. I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced this because I'm wondering if it's RA related. Any input would be greatly appreciated.I had Morton's neuromas in both feet. I started to have RA symptoms at the same time. When they removed the first one (I had to do two separate surgeries), my RA symptoms decreased dramatically. In addition, they found synovial fluid in the neuroma.

Nothing special ocurred with the removal of the second one. Thanks so much. My RD appt. isn't until April so in the meantime, I've been doing so much self-diagnosing research and I just ordered myself some special shoe inserts designed just for this condition. I sort of made myself an insert by balling up a small piece of fabric and putting it under the ball of my foot (which is what the inserts will do) and I did feel some relief. What a pain in the @ss! If it's not one thing it's the other and if it's not that then it't something else! Thanks again for your info. Anyone else?

Wow, Hessaline, how long ago did you have the surgery and have you continued to have milder RA symptoms since?  I have Morton's Neuroma in just one foot....it started about a year or two before RA.  Never took care of it, instead I shop for the most comfortable shoes.

I had the surgery about 16 years ago. They were very large and very painful. Tried steroid injections but they didn't work. I believe that I had a predisposition for RA and that the neuromas were the trigger. Have been riding the RA rollercoaster ever since. Started out initially as classic severe RA symptoms, many swelling joints and extreme morning stiffness that took several hours to alleviate. After the neuroma surgeries I was diagnosed with palindromic RA and then full blown RA after my kids were born. Now, I consider myself close to full remission ever since I started Enbrel 2 years ago. What is this? What does it look like and feel like?I had Morton's in both feet.  I had bunion surgery on one foot and had the neuroma removed.  The other one went away on its own.  But that was the start of the RA.  I have inserts in my shoes and for the most part, I am doing ok.  A Mortons Neuroma feels like you are standing on a marble between your 2nd and 3rd toes.  It makes your two toes go numb when you have been walking or putting pressure on it.
Good comfortable shoes and/or orthotics usually help.  At least they are a good start.
I have one in each foot but the right is the worst  When I'm flaring they are worse.
Mine also burned and screamed whenever I stepped down on them.  Not fun!
