As most of you know, mine is Photography.
(even if you cant do it now, what was it)

What's yours.??
Bodak2008-03-14 15:16:34I love to read.

I love hiking at Devils lake. ( really anywhere )
I love snorkeling.

I have two hobbies that are kind of related. I do Stampin' Up and scrapbooking. I get together with friends the 2nd fri of the month and make cards, which is tonight. Twice a year we do an all day of crafting (tomorrow). It's good to get my mind away from my pain for a bit, even if it does wear me out. We all bring treats to share and our consultant's husband passes through to grab some treats and always says "whoa, there's way too much estrogen in this room, can't stay."Yelling at men and making them completly miserable. LOL Just kidding!! I like to read and go for long walks. I am happiest when i am working. I am an old workaholic from way back. I love antique hunting and reading about antiques. Local politics.  Definitely not a spectator sport... at times it becomes full-contact brawling! Drawing/Painting/Reading/Writing/Singing/Acting

My favorite thing to do in the whole world is to ski.  There is nothing better than spending a whole day in the clean fresh, crisp air.  Skiing all day, snow, beautiful mountains, good food.  I just love the feeling at the end of the day of being physically exhausted, sun on the face, sitting in front of the fire, and maybe one martini for the month! I love to read as well, but if time allowed, I would love to learn more about gardening and flowers.    Studying Auto-immune diseases.

I need a new hobby.

Pip
Good one pip!  Don't we all! Reading, knitting, crocheting, decorating and I used to enjoy horseback riding but can't do it anymore.  writing and playing the mandolinOutside stuff.....watching and listening to the sounds of machinery......builder stuff.....anything outside. Today was a nice day  and when I drove by a particular shop, I heard the drills and the power saws..... it brought back a flood of memories....just the smell of the wood brought tears to my eyes.....anyway, it reminded me of all the hobbies I used to have. I do not have  too many now...it has been too yucked lately....but I used to have hobbies.
I love this thread.  Great way to get to know more about everyone!

I love most any crafts. Scrapbooking, painting ceramics, sewing, crocheting, jewelry making.  You name it, I've probably done it and have a stash of supplies in the basement!  I also make the reborn baby dolls.  I love doing those but they do take alot of time.

I also play the flute and piano and sing in our church praise band.  I love to play for relaxation as well.

And, reading.

But, it's hard to find time to do all of these things with four kids!
Scrapbooking and readingBEADING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bead everything I can stick a needle into now. LOL And make my beaded necklaces and stuff. It's so fun!!

And I collect anything and everything alice. So sometimes I can just spend 2 hours online looking at Alice related merchanise. Ah, I love me some Alice!
gardening, painting, fishing/camping and going to yard sales.I do jewelry design, redesign vintage jewelry, collect vintage beads, silversmith and am now working with copper.  Also, paint furniture, do altered art, textile wall hangings, collect small antique books and pottery.  Like to golf, hike, and I volunteer.  We also travel fulltime since retirement two years ago.  We live in La Penita, Mexico for 6 months and the U.S.  Life is good and busy.  Lindy  sewing, crocheting, ceramics.... from molding to firing to painting.  Used to love to garden, but I get too stiff, have fallen over several times.  LauraI love making babies and baking babies.

I love saying that because some of the looks I get when I say that.
LOL I was thinking that robyn, as I read it. "I wonder how many people are going... WHAT!?!? to that response..."

So I must ask you, where is your favorite place to make babies? *grin*
Hmmm on the table under the heat lamp.  rotf yeah I'm sitting at the counter at work just giggling away!! hehehehe

Under the heat lamp on the table!! LMFAO!!
You know when you warm it up first it is so much easier to make babies. omg yer killin me!!!!I love to love! (I would have made an awesome hippy! LOL)

I enjoy taking pictures, but I definitely need a new camera. I'm hoping to get a nice one for Christmas. I just love taking pictures of my family and friends. (My hubby calls me a picture freak!)

I love to go "exploring" and my hubby shares that love with me. Sometimes we'll just get in the car and go. You need to see something different every now and then, you know? Right now we don't get very far - maybe an hour or so into the mountains. Hopefully in the future we'll actually be able to venture further out and stay the night. We'd love to see the Royal Gorge (sp?) and Moab.

I never thought of reading as a hobby but if it's considered one- that's what I do when I have a few minutes.

When I read the topic heading I was stymied. I work two jobs- I guessed working is my hobby. It keeps my mind too busy to worry about other things and forces me to keep up a routine.
Geez, I looked at this thread quickly and thought it said "Name your hubby".  I was coming up with some doozies....

Um, I guess my hobby is now makin' surveys!  I've always liked statistics and databases and bears, oh my!  If not, then reading, movies, video games...

Edited to say....Oops, I missed the part where it said "or what it used to be".  Definitely horseback-riding...I rode for pleasure and competition for a decade.  Also, if you can call this a hobby, planning and writing Sunday morning lay services for my church, then helping with the publication of the church newsletter.  Wasn't able to keep up with it.
InnerGlow2008-03-14 19:01:42 [QUOTE=shykymom]I love making babies and baking babies.
Dancing!   I love to dance and my rheumy thinks it is great exercise for me.I love to knit (when my wrist and hands comply) and make homemade cards. I also read alot but I never considered that a hobby - its more of a necessity like breathing.Playing racquetball, competing in racquetball, photography, walking the beach.I write and paint.

wonderwoman2008-03-15 19:10:03 Gardening and hiking ... and these days waaay to much time on Facebook and shopping online for used furniture and household stuff for a cottage we're building down in upstate New York.

Fun thread! Joy2008-03-15 15:19:23I used to love to show horses. Not anymore...To much inflammation in the neck and shoulder. RD said it wouldn't be safe if I took a good fall.

I also love to read, draw, and paint.Crafts, sewing, taking pictures, playing with pics with Photoshop, reading, designing.I have too many interests where hobbies became work. Photography, Writing, Computers including Programming, even (Target) Shooting have all wound up as somewhat vocational endeavors. I'm really good at figuring out how to do something and just get carried away when I start in on it. Listening to classical music is probably my only pure hobby. I just don't never had enough discipline to practice an instrument despite some musical training so I am happily content to be a spectator. Whew something I don't have to do! (My neighbors are probably glad about that too) That's a blessing! I used to be a runner, distance and sprinting, I was an athlete actually and that is the worst thing about RA, it has taken that away from me, including, tennis, golf, bike riding, walking, gym workouts etc etc, aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh  JANIE.  Used to be a Golfer, Swimmer and used to Sing & Dance professionally before PR & RA.
Now I am researching my family tree, love all types of music and manage a little dancing sometimes.
Fighting a losing battle with swimming at the moment because becoming sensitive to pool chemicals I like to make candles, cook, and spending lots of time with family and friends.I loved to crochet and sew. I haven't done them in about a year or so. Hands aren't in a good place right now. I love to read, and I sell Avon. I also spend alot of time taking care of all my animals, although it's not a hobby anymore. It's more like work! LOLI love camping, boating, hiking, fishing, photography (just got my first DSLR) and Photoshop CS3!

Yes, I'm a girl.
Had to give up horse riding, hiking, fishing, camping and golf this is fun

I scrapbook, read, wach old movies, go antiquing, and collect old cook books. I love to cook, but not bake.

I make stained glass, or used to.   Right now my glass supplies are packed away, but not because of RA.. just the kids are too little to have that stuff out right now. I refinish furniture, and plan (but never do remodeling)

I used to ski, and loved it, and hike, bike and swim. I despise horses, but actually used to ride, and owned a little welsh/belgian cross. he was built like a belgian, but the size of a welsh.

I used to sew, just havent gotten back into it. I made all my own maternity clothes, and much of the kids clothes, and all our curtains etc.. 100 years ago I even did needlepoint..(is that still popular?)

Dear Janie,
I was a runner for most of my 43yr life. I was iso much into fitness! I am not diagnosed yet (no Health Insurance and a doctor to do this) but I have all signs and symptoms of Arthritis( OA and RA and who knows what else). The pain, especially in my hands now is very bad!

I had to give up running 2 yrs ago, and for the last couple of months  am not exercising as I am in too much pain and also feel that I need some time to get over the shock of the new affected body parts and pain, and decide on the plan  of action  accordingly. I am doing it now.

Besides hard core training, I did tai-chi and yoga stretching and I am certaingly going back to doing  at least these two and also meditation.

Since I don't have Insurance - I am willing to do what I can do: swith to "vegan" diet plus fish( must have it for Omega-3 oils!). I want to see if that will help reduce inflammation and pain. I am also a great believer into mind-body connection and if I  strengthen my mind-I hope  my  body will follow. That is all I can do for now, but I know I have to do it!

It was very depressing to me to realize I couldn't run any longer and then accept it, however, I believe that it is even better to swith to gentle ways of exersising body (and mind!). And now the time is very appropriate for us!

Can't deal with this alone
Oh~There you are Veter! I read Gimpy's thread with the above post and couldn't figure out why I hadn't seen you yet. Welcome!

I haven't had time to read this before now....and I'm sorry to say I don't have any really neat hobbies like you guys.

I do LOVE to knit and watch SoapNet. lol I also very much enjoy gardening. I'm so excited to see all of my plants poppin through the soil. I love to be out in my yard with my husband and my little dog by my side. It's hard work and I can't always do as much as I'd like...but I enjoy watching it being done at those times. lol

You guys have inspired me to investigate new interest. Thanks so much.
