Bringing to the top for Joy!I prefer New Wave 80's synth-pop British Invasion (Howard Jones, Duran Duran, Wham!, etc)
George Michael is part of that? Or Boy George?
Pip
P.S. Know the last 2 and love them. Not familar with the first.
Yep - George Michael from Wham!; Boy George from Culture Club.
See - we have things in common! LOL I love music - I can go from Kidd Rock to 'old school' to Hank Williams and Ry Cooder to Glenn Miller.
LOVE MUSIC.

OK - cause I agree about most country and most (modern) rap. LOL
I had roommates once that played Hank over and over again - nobody does lonely like he did. But it took some getting used to. Different roomies played Ry Cooder when he did the soundtrack to some movie, can't remember, starred Tim Robbins and Robin Williams. Anyway, really got into it as he has a gospel backbeat and I love that. Lots of gospel backbeat in Kidd Rock too.
And I love old school rap before it became hatefilled.

Not a fan of rap, hip hop........love country, alternative rock and classic rock. One of my friends (a tiny, 50-something, devout Catholic, conservative white woman) was telling me about her college-age son and his fascination with rap music. She couldn't stand the stuff, mainly because of the objectionable lyrics. The kid wouldn't stop cranking it when he was home on break, so she decided to grab some of his CDs and learn the lyrics. The next time he cranked it up, she "rapped" along (with ALL the graphic phrases). LOL - he never played it again in her presence.
I would have paid money to see her performance!!!!!
LOL, Jas your friend's a genius!!

No - that's the gangsta stuff. OG is stuff like NWA which was very contraversial in its day but had points about what was legitmately going on in the 'hood'. Now, its all about more money, more sex, and more drugs. That's what happens when record labels get involved. They started throwing all this money and homies with rap sheets so they could claim 'street cred.
Listen to Hard Times, Friends, and Going Back to Cali on the list on the first page. Now that's old school.
Hugs,
Pip
