Don't do ANYTHING important on the computer which will comprise your security (like PayPal, email, banking, etc) until the spyware is gone. I highly suggest getting an Internet security program if you haven't, I have never had much luck with Norton because they have to download so much each time you connect to the internet that your PC is sluggish for too long on startup, it frustrates me, and  hackers know how to get around it anyway. I suggest downloading a free trial of McAfee or Norton, clearing out your system and buying proper software within the 15 day grace period, so that you are always protected. If the software blocks you from doing that, go buy the software from a PC store and do not go on the internet until the spyware is off. Can you tell me what makes you think it's there??

If you want to keep others off of you laptop, pull the power supply out of the back and hide it until u need to use it for yourself.

IF it's a keylogger program it can be hidden anywhere.

If you know the name of the program (u can look for the names of these online) then read up on how they're installed and removed.

I might be able to help you more if I have more info

Be careful of Paypal emails.  I received an email that asked me to upate my account.  They wanted my checking account information as well as the PIN number.  I called Paypal and they told me that whenever they send an email they will address you by your name.  My email said "Dear Customer".  Paypal said that this was a bogus email and has been going aroun the internet and contains a virus.

Well great! I do not do paypal  stuff or ebay. Nor anything checking acct.

Mine is just acting weird and I think it has a program on it.....like a k eylogger or something so that "someone" can see what I am doing online.

Oh how I wished I was in Indiana...........home in Indiana. I screwed up so bad. THis particular person is making sure my life is H***

ok, thanks, I will try thatUmmm... you would not really know if someone put a keylogger on your computer. I know,  because I have done it to my hubby a couple of years back, on our computer. He had no idea and I eventually told him I put it on there for the hfun of it

Could be a virus, spyware (from websites), or even adware. There are free programs to help clear those up.
Wouldn't you be able to see that the key logging software was installed by looking at the "Add and Remove Programs" in the Control Panel? You might if you know what you are looking for. If you do not know what programs are already on your computer you might mistakenly remove a much needed program. Jode,

If you see something in the "Add and Remove" programs that you dont' recognize, Google it.  You should be able to do enough research that way to determine if you have a Keylogger installed.

Jode...I believe my husband put adaware on the laptop and a virus scanner.

I'll have Steve take a look at what you sent me when he gets home.
I don't think you'll find anything in the "add and remove program"keylogger are typically hidden in DOS or something. I had it on my computer when the kids kept going online....made a printout and showed Tim what the kids were writing...........that was interesting.

Most are hidden. Sometimes if you try to download one it will state do you want to replace it....maybe I will try that.
Over 1.4 million online users in 2002 have reported being hacked of their personal information from spyware and keyloggers while using the internet. This includes, but not limited to, personal documents, banking information, credit cards, residence information, and phone numbers.

I use Ad-aware...A friend of mine is in the computer business, he does website stuff and he says that Ad-aware is one of the best...Its takes for EVER to go through your computer but it is definitly worth it.

Jode, what makes you suspect that there is something on your computer?
WEll folks, Kelstev saved the day! You see she and her husband were so kind as to send me this laptop and dorko me just needed to run the scan on it. When she and her husband isstructed me what to do all worked fine.

I did run "hack this" on my laptop so he coudl see if there was a problem, thanks to their generosity and their unending  support I think I got the prob fixed.

THank goodness for AI and KELSETV!
